| Plank, Charles A. | CHARLES A. PLANK DIES SUDDENLY Well-Known Guide and Taxi Man Succumbs To Heart Attack. Charles A. Plank, well-known battlefield guide and taxi driver, died suddenly at his home, 133 Chambersburg street, this morning at 7:50. Mr. Plank had been convalescent from an attack of plural pneumonia and the last four or five days seemed much improved. A heart complication developed suddenly, however, which resulted in his death. He was aged 49 years and 12 days. Mr. Plank was born and spent his earl life on the old Plank homestead in Freedom township. For eight years he was employed as fireman and engineer on the PHiladelphi and Reading and later on the Lehigh Valley railroads. Since 1913, however, he had been engaged as a guide and taxi driver. He was married on October 28, 1897, to Miss Laura Lady, who preceded him in death in August 1917. He was a son of the late J. Edward and Mrs. Sarah A. C. Plank, of Gettysburg, who survives, together with two brothers, J. Jerry Plank, Gettysburg, and L. David Plank, Cumberland township, and five sisters. Mrs. Mary L Bushman, Gettysburg; Mrs. S. V. Bushman, Hanover; Mrs. Foster Beard, Gettysburg; Mrs. Emory Plank and Mrs. Roy Plank, Cumberland township. Two nephews and one niece, children of his late brother, George L Plank, residing at Bristol, Tennessee, also survive. Funeral services from his late home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Earl J. Bowman, pastor of St. James Lutheran church, of which he was a member.
