| Zimmerman, Peter | Departed this life, on Wednesday evening the 29th ultimo, Mr. Peter Zimmerman, of Liberty township, in the 71st year of his age. In the history of this individual we find little to attract the attention of the world. No remarkable incidents, no brilliant achievements, no external glare to dazzle or excite admiration. He passed through life unnoticed and unknown. But, though the "world knew him not," he was not unnoticed by him who "seeth not as man seeth." By distinguishing grace was he led to seek and find his happiness in God. Few ever seemed to feel more, the importance of eternal things. His pious example will long be remembered and the separation from his society will be a lasting subject of regret to his friends. His disease appeared to be a complicated, painful one, which he bore with great resignation and Christian fortitude. He has left an aged and worthy widow and a large family of children; also grand children and many relatives and friends to feel his loss. His funeral was attended by a numerous concourse, on which occasion the Rev. J. Welday delivered an appropriate discourse. | 5 Nov 1823 Page 3 | Republican Compiler Gettysburg, Pennsylvania | Nancy Piper |
