NEW! Got Cat and Dog Drunk, Wife Accuses Husband.
McKeesport Woman, Seeking Divorce, Says Spouse Was Cruel.

Special to The Inquirer.

Pittsburgh, Pa., Dec. 14.--He would feed the cat and dog whisky to make them drunk, then throw them at me to "scare me." Mrs. Emma Steffey, a pretty McKeesport woman, testified during the hearing of her application for divorce from her husband, Emory E. Steffey, before Attorney Joseph S. Rosenbaum, master in court here today.

The pair married in December 1907, in McKeesport, and lived together until August, 1911, when the wife withdrew from the home because, she says of her husband's cruel and barbarous treatment. He did not support her, she says, and the drunken cat and dog throwing episode was only one of the many abuses heaped upon her, the woman alleged.  [Source: Philadelphia Inquirer, December 15, 1916 - Transcribed by C.
