Marriages

Mr. Donald Mc Haffey and Miss Esther Campbell of Georgetown were married on April 16, 1924 at Beaver, Pa.
Mr. Fred W. Campbell and Miss Margaret Laughlin of Hookstown were married July 21, 1920.
Mr. Joseph Campbell and Leona Martin were married on Feb. 26, 1921.
Mr. Ollie Campbell and Miss Mary Mackintosh of East Liverpool was married on Aug. 30, 1924.
Mr. Elmore Laughlin and Miss Oliva Cain of Clinton were married at Wellsburg, WV. on Jan. 29, 1925.
Mr. Harold Harroff of New Waterford and Miss Bonnie Mc Kinnon was married on Feb. 25, 1949.
Mr. Walter Mackintosh and Miss Ruth Hays, both of Smiths Ferry, were married on Jan. 30, 1929.

Mrs. Lucinda Campbell, Died at her home near Hookstown on Sat. night, Oct 16, 1915. Buried on the 19th. Age 72.
Mr. Joseph Campbell, Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Brooks, on Thursday morning, March 22, 1917. Age 82.
Mrs. Menervia Wright, died at her home in Hookstown on March 14, 1917. Buried at Mill Creek Cemetery.
Oliver W. Wright was found dead in George B. Dawson coal bank at Island run on Sunday morning, Oct. 18, 1914.
Was buried at Georgetown Cemetery.

Miss. Mamie Brooks, a daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Charles Brooks with the flu and pneumonia on Friday, Nov. 22, 1918. She dies 15 minutes to eleven o'clock, 18 years, one month and 8 days. Buried at Hookstown Cemetery.

Son of Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Bryan dies on Sat. morning, Nov. 26, 1916, age 11 months old. Buried in Georgetown.
Mrs. Susan Scott died on Tuesday morning, Oct. 31, 1916. Buried at Hookstown Cem.

Mrs. Beulah Brooks Godfery died in the East Liverpool Hospital on May 3, 1934. Was buried on Sunday, May 6, 1934. Funeral services were at her home near Hookstown. Her husband, Roger Godfery, daughterRoberta Smith and her son William Eaton survived her. She was buried at Hookstown Cemetery.

George William Campbell a son of the late William J and Hettie Campbell died in the East Liverpool Hospital on Nov. 28, 1937, buried at Locus Hill Cem., back of Chester, Pa.

Mr. James Potts died at his home near Longrun Church, Calcutta, Apr. 20, 1938, buried at Hookstown Cem.
Mrs. Jess Campbell dies Feb. 18, 1957, a Monday morning at 3 AM in the city hospital at East Liverpool. Buried from the Martin funeral home on Wed., buried at Mill Creek Cem.

Frank Campbell a son of the late William and Hettie Campbell died Nov. 24, 1957 at Alliquippa Hospital. He lived at New Kensington, Pa. Was buried from the Welchs funeral home in Hookstown. Buried in Mill Creek.

Calvin Cain died Nov. 26, 1957 at his son Fred Cain home near Clinton. Was taken to the Welches Funeral Home. Was buried at Mount Olive Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth Potts, took a stroke Feb. 4, 1958, a Tuesday evening between 11 and 12 o’clock, she died on Wednesday evening between 11 and 12 o’clock at the home of her daughter Bessie Mc Kinnin, was taken to Welchs funeral home at Hookstown, buried in Mill Creek.

Mr. Marion Campbell died at his home near Bradley Calif. Feb. 26, 1958 on Wednesday evening about 7-30 o’clock. Was buried on Saturday at Hunting Beach Calif.

Mrs. Minnie Olive Johnson, a wife of Rody Johnson dies at her home in Georgetown on Aug. 21, 1919, a Thursday 12-30 o’clock, buried on Sunday Aug. 24, 1919 at Hookstown Cemetery. Age 33 years, 6 months 11 days.

Mrs. Daisy Goodwin died on Sunday morning, Apr. 16, 1916 at her parents Mr. And Mrs. James Potts near Hookstown, buried Apr. 18, 1916 at Hookstown Cemetery.

Mrs. Nancy Jane Brooks died at her home at Dam #7 on Feb. 26, 1931, was buried at Hookstown Cemetery.
Mr. Charles Brooks died June 16, 1934, at his home near Hookstown, was buried at Hookstown Cemetery.
Mrs. Helen Brooks Wright died at her home in Georgetown, Dec. 10, 1944, she was buried at Mill Creek Cemetry in Hookstown.
Smantha Campbell Ammon died at the home of Walter Campbell on Philisy Island, Nov. 2, 1914 was taken to Wellsville, Ohio for burial.
Rebecca Campbell Lewellen died at her home in Little Rock Ark., on Sept.14 ,1923 was buried there.
Thomas Samuel Campbell died July 5, 1932, at the home of Mr. Spencer Kidder near Smiths Ferry, buried at Hookstown Cem.
Mrs. Bell Byran died May 24, 1953, at the home of her daughter Mrs. Luna Evens on route 30, Chester hill, was buried at Georgetown Cemetery.
Mr. J.C. Spencer of Smiths Ferry, Pa., died at his home on March 31, 1925, buried Friday afternoon April 3, 1925 in Beaver Cemetery.
John Spencer was taken to the Rochester Hospital on Thursday, April 2, 1925, died on Monday morning, May 11, 1925. Was taken to Murrys Funeral Home in Midland, buried at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mr. James (Winkle) Campbell was found dead at his shack in Klondike on Wednesday morning Dec.2, 1925, had been dead for about 2 days. He was buried from his daughters’ home in Klondike, buried at Georgetown Cemetery.

Mrs. Katherine Brooks died at the home of her son William Brooks at Dam No.7 on Dec. 17, 1925, buried at Hookstown Cemetery.
Mrs. Maggie Laughlin was found in her bed Monday morning very bad on Jan 17, 1957, was taken to city hospital and she died on Jan. 21, 1957, was buried on the 24th at Mill Creek Cemetery.

Mrs. Edward Kidder was taken to the East Liverpool Hospital on Tuesday, June 14, 1949, and was operated on June 18, 1949. She died the same evening, was buried on Tuesday at the Calcutta cemetery.

Mrs. Ruby Daily died at her daughter Mrs. Georgia Dupree’s home near Fredricktown Ohio on April 10, 1953. With her birthday being March 12, she was 76 years 1 month old. Walter and Eula Perkins, Spencer and Lucinda Kidder and son Floyd Kidder attended the funeral. The day was cold and windy all day.

William Eaton was taken to the Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital on March 19, and died on March 25., Was buried from Welches Funeral home at Hookstown, buried at Sylvania Hill at Rochester.

Mrs. Anna McKinnon died at her home in Smiths Ferry, Nov. 21, 1947. She had a store there for many years.
Ralph Earl Campbell of Georgetown was killed on Sat. morning, 2AM Sept. 29, 1957 on route 30 near Chester, WV. He was riding with Melvin MacKall of Georgetown and they had a wreck.

Walter McKinnon dies real suddenly at his home at Beachwood, East Liverpool, Oh., on Saturday morning, April 12, 1958. Was buried on Monday from Martin Funeral Home. He leaves his widow Bessie McKinnin and daughter Bonnie Haroff of East Palistine.

Mrs. Cora Allison died on July 14, 1959, was buried on the 17th.
Dr. R. Wayne Watterson died July 23, 1959, and was buried on Wednesday the 26th.

Deaths

Mrs. Daniel Pugh died on Saturday morning, Jan. 1, 1921. Buried at Hookstown on the 2nd of Jan. He was a resident of Georgetown.
Mrs. Nancy J. Dawson died at her home in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 1921. Buried at Georgetown cemetery.
Mrs. Alma Mackall Abroms died at the East Liverpool Hospital Thursday morning, Feb. 17, 1921. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mackall.

Mr. Bob Mackall, son of Mrs. Maggie Mackall died at his home near Ravana, Saturday morning, Feb.19, 1921. He was brought to Georgetown for burial.

Moss Redkins was found dead at the Crucible Steel Co., Midland, PA. on Nov. 25, 1921, Thanksgiving Day. Thought to be gassed. He was shipped down river on Friday on the Express for burial. He was a boarder of Mrs. Sis Holdcraft.

Mrs. James Potts of Newell, WV., died on Thursday, June 2, 1921. He was buried at Georgetown Cemetery Saturday afternoon.
Wilber C. Allison, age 33, died at his home on St. George Street, East End at 5 O’clock Sunday morning, Dec. 4, 1921 of typhoid fever.
Mr. Samuel B. Hayes of Smiths Ferry, Pa. died at his home, Dec. 26, 1921, on Monday morning about 15 till 7 o’clock.
Mary Merie Alcould, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Alcould died at East Liverpool City Hospital Friday morning at five o’clock, Jan. 20, 1922 of typhoid fever, 13 years and 6 months old. She lived in Smiths Ferry, Pa. She was buried from the Catholic Church Jan. 23, 1922.

Miss. Nellie Hays, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Hays died at Youngstown, OH on Wednesday morning, Jan. 25, 1922. Buried on Jan. 28, 1922, at the age of 29 years.

Mrs. Art Gladwell died at her home in Smiths Ferry, on Saturday evening, Feb. 25, 1922. She was taken to her mother’s home in Wellsville for burial in Wellsville Cemetery.

Mrs. Alvin Laughlin of Klondike died on April 18, 1922. She is survived by her two brothers and two sisters.
Charles Mike Black, while riding with the McCombs boys on Saturday evening just about midnight was thrown from one of the autos and dragged very badly. He died on Tuesday evening in the Mercy Hospital at Pittsburgh, Pa, Sept. 21, 1922. He was buried on the 15th.

Mrs. Lola Hamilton, wife of Roy Hamilton, died Thursday morning, 15 minutes to 8 o’clock Sept. 21, 1922 at her home in Smiths Ferry, Pa. She took sick on Thursday morning, Aug. 17 and spent 5 weeks in bed. She leaves her husband and three children Glenn, Newell and Jennie Louise Mason.

Mrs. Dr. Dawson died on Friday, Sept. 15, 1922 at her home in Fairview, Pa.
Mrs. George Pepperd of Georgetown was called by death on Wednesday morning, Oct. 4, 1922. She died in East Liverpool City Hospital.

Mrs. Dottie Laughlin died at her home in Georgetown on March 10, 1923. She was the only child of Mr. John Laughlin. She was buried at Mill Creek Cemetery in Hookstown.

Mrs. Laura Montgomery of Smiths Ferry was found dead at her home on Tuesday morning, January 9, 1923. She was found by, Jessie Blackmore and John Calhoun, the Rock Port School teacher.

Mrs. Eliza Johnson of Smiths Ferry died on Friday June 15, 1923 at about 1:30 in the afternoon and was buried on the 17th. She resided with her son, William Johnson of Smiths Ferry.

Mrs. Mary Shanon of Smiths Ferry, Pa. died at her home on July 27, 1923. Mrs. Shanon suffered for several weeks from cancer of the stomach and a stroke followed it on Tuesday morning July 17.Mrs. Shanon leaves three sons and four daughters and three step- daughters. Funeral services were held at the East End Catholic Church. Flowers were sent in from different places. Neighbors basket of flowers cost $17.30. 16 baskets, 6 sprays, a large bunch from the Crucible and the children’s flowers cost $25.00. Mrs. Shanon was buried in a metallic casket.

The President of the United States, died a very sudden death at 7:30 August 2, 1923 at The Palace Hotel in San Francisco, CA. He was taken back to the white house for burial. Warren G. Harding will be laid to rest in his old hometown of, Marion Ohio. Mr. Harding was 58 years old. Harding not served quite three years, two years and four months. He was buried on Friday afternoon, August 10, 1923.

Mrs. Sara Wright of near Hookstown died at her nieces, Mrs. Thomas MacKall on Saturday evening, August 11, 1923. She was buried at Hookstown graveyard.

Mr. William Johnson of Smiths Ferry died at his home on Tuesday morning, at 10 to 7 o’clock on August 28, 1923. Mr. Johnson had resided in Smiths Ferry for six years and seven months. He leaves his wife, Bertha Johnson, three daughters, Florence, Phoebia and Fredia; two sons, Lee and Ralph Johnson at home. He was buried Thursday afternoon in Georgetown Cemetery.

Mrs. Rebecca Lewellen died Sept. 14, 1923 at her home in Little Rock, Arkansas. She leaves two children, Minnie and Edward Lewellen.
Mr. Thomas Moore of Smiths Ferry shot and wounded himself on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 11, 1923. Shooting him self, just above the temple, the bullet going through his head.

On Saturday morning, January 5, 1924 Mr. David P. Ralston of Smiths Ferry fell dead in the Smiths Ferry post office while waiting for the mail train. He had been taking the mail from the train to the post office for nearly two years. Funeral services were held from the Presbyterian Church of Smiths Ferry. He was buried At Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool. He leaves his wife, Hannah Ralston, one son Harry Ralston of Smiths Ferry and a daughter Lora Fulton of Seattle Washington, and eight grand children. Mr. Ralston served in the civil war and was 76 years old.

Mr. Willard W. Barton of Smiths Ferry, was killed in a crane (no.2) accident before starting his work at 3 o’clock on March 19, 1924. He was 20 years old. He was taken from the Methodist Church in Smiths Ferry, to Riverview Cemetery, East Liverpool OH for burial. Rev. O.J. Watson was in charge of the large funeral.

Mrs. Joe Arthur of Smiths Ferry died at the East Liverpool City Hospital on Tuesday morning at twenty minutes to 3 o’clock March 25, 1924. She leaves her husband, Joe Arthur and several children and grand children. Services was held in the Methodist Church by Rev. O.J. Watson. Burial was at the Oak Grove Cemetery in East Liverpool, OH on March 27, 1924.

Mr. William Barns of Rochester, Pa, died on March 25, 1924. He was taken to Chester, WV for burial at Locus Hill Cemetery. He leaves his wife Bertha Barns and several children.

Mr. John Victor Lawrence a son of Robert Lawrence of East End died on Monday evening, July 7, 1924 at his home. He had been sick for 5 months. He died at the age of 13. He is buried in River View Cemetery.

Mr. J.C. Spencer died at his home on March 31, 1925 fifteen minutes to eleven o’clock. Buried on Friday afternoon, April 3, 1925 in Beaver Cemetery.
Mr. Charlie E. Hamilton died on Saturday evening, a little after ten o’clock on April 11, 1925. He was buried Wednesday afternoon, April 15, 1925 in Georgetown Cemetery.

Mrs. William Johnson died at her home in Smiths Ferry, Pa. at midnight, April 22, 1925. She was buried in Georgetown Cemetery.
Mr. John Spencer died on Monday morning, May 11, 1925 at Rochester Hospital. He was buried from Mrs. Murry Morgue at Midland on Wednesday, May 13, 1925 at Oak Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Timothy Nonnile died on Thursday, April 23, 1925. He was a long time resident of Smiths Ferry, Pa. and died at his daughters home in Wellsville, OH.

Mrs. Bertha Kinsey of Smiths Ferry died at her home on August 15, 1925. She leaves a husband and 12 children. Buried at Georgetown Cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Frumble of Georgetown died on Sept.7, 1925 at her home in Georgetown. She was 85 years old and is buried at Georgetown Cemetery.
Mr. William Dawson, a life long resident of Smiths Ferry, Pa. died in the East Liverpool City Hospital on Sept. 28, 1925. Mr. Dawson was operated on April 29th, and was bed fast for 22 weeks. He leaves a wife, Lydia Dawson and one sister in Los Angeles. He is buried in Georgetown Cemetery.

Mr. Charlie Kinsy of Smiths Ferry fell from the bridge at Beaver Creek crushing his skull rendering himself unconscious on Oct. 8, 1925, a Thursday, a few minutes before noon. He was rushed to East Liverpool City Hospital where he died Saturday evening, Oct. 10, 1925. He was buried on the 13th at Georgetown Cemetery.

Mr. James Campbell was found dead in his shack on Wednesday morning, Dec. 2, 1925. He had been dead for about two days before he was found. He was taken from his daughter’s home in Klondike for burial in Georgetown Cemetery.

Mrs. Katherine Brooks from Dam No.7 who was making her home at her son’s, William Brooks died Thursday evening, Dec. 17, 1925. She was buried on Sunday at Hookstown. She leaves three sons, Charles and William Brooks of Dam No.7 and Albert Brooks of Pittsburgh. Daughter Maggie Ward of Philadelphia, Pa.

Mrs. Harry Dawson of Smiths Ferry died in the East Liverpool City Hospital on Sunday Morning, Jan.24, 1926. She was taken to the Shepler Morgue in Midland and funeral services at the home of Edward Troup. Rev. Lawrence was in charge of the funeral. She was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Jess Laughlin of Smiths Ferry died at his home on March 21, 1926. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Georgetown, and burial followed at the Georgetown Cemetery.

Mrs. Daniel Wolf died at her home near Smiths Ferry, Pa. on April 26, 1926. She was buried at River View Cemetery in East Liverpool, OH.
Miss. Rachel Dawson of Smiths Ferry died at her brother-in-laws in Steubenville, Ohio on April 14, 1926 at the age of 86. She was buried there in Steubenville.

Mr. Thomas C. Moore died at his home in Smiths Ferry, Pa. Friday noon, April 23, 1926. Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church in Smiths Ferry, with burial in Georgetown Cemetery.

Mr. William Daily died on Saturday evening, May 22, 1926. He was buried in Mount Vernon, Ohio on Monday May 24, 1926. Mr. and Mrs. William Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kidder and Mr. Spencer Kidder attended the funeral.

Frank Berchutt of Smiths Ferry shot and killed himself at Midland Thursday, June 17, 1926, on Ohio Avenue. Services were held at the Methodist Church in Smiths Ferry, Pa., with burial at Riverview Cemetery, East Liverpool, OH.

Mr. Wallace Ammon of East Liverpool died at his home on June 12, 1926. He was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery on June 15, 1926.
Mr. John Finley of Georgetown died on Saturday morning, Dec. 11, 1926. Burial was at Riverview Cemetery in East Liverpool, OH.
Mr. Clifford Cross of Georgetown dies on Wednesday morning, Dec. 5, 1926, at the home of Miss Jessie Kinsey. He was buried at Georgetown Cemetery.

Mr. Joseph Wolf died on Sunday morning, Dec. 26, 1926. He was buried on Tuesday at Longs Run Cemetery. He resided near Smiths Ferry, Pa.
Mr. John Thompson of Smiths Ferry, Pa. died on Friday evening at 6 O’clock, Feb. 11, 1927. He was buried on Monday at Mill Creek Cemetery in Hookstown, PA.

Mrs. Harley Fullar of Klondike died in the East Liverpool City Hospital on Tuesday afternoon on March 22, 1927, and was buried at Riverview Cemetery on the 26th.

Mr. Benny Antill died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Quinn on Oct. 26, 1927. The funeral was held on Thursday evening and the body was taken to Wellsburgh on Friday morning for burial.

Lenard Pitts of Klondike while going to work on Saturday morning Aug. 20, 1927 riding a motorcycle ran into a telephone pole breaking his leg in two places. He was taken to East Liverpool City Hospital where he had his leg amputated. He died Thursday morning at 10:30 Aug. 25, 1927. He was taken to Uniontown for burial.

Levada McKinnon died at her home in Beechwood, Ohio on Jan. 5, 1928 with diphtheria at the age of 5 years 10 months and 13 days. She was buried on Friday, Jan. 6, 1928 at Spring Grove Cemetery. Services were held outside the home. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter McKinnon.

Mr. J.S. Hamilton of Smiths Ferry died at his home on April 12, 1928, and was buried on the 15th. He leaves two sons, Amos and Clyde Hamilton, two daughters Kate and Josephine along with 16 grand children.

Mr. Tim McGurren of Wellsville died at home on Jan. 19, 1929, Thursday afternoon at 2:10, after a week illness of pneumonia. He leaves his wife and the following children; Joe, Mary, Catherine, Agnes, George, Dick, and Tim Jr. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at the Catholic Church with burial in the St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Dean donated a steel vault.

Mrs. Walter Campbell died at her home near Hookstown on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1929, at five minutes to five. She leaves her husband and eight children. She was buried at Hookstown Cemetery.

Mr. William Hill died on April 27, 1929 on Saturday afternoon at 4:15 o’clock. He was buried from the 2nd Presbyterian Church of East End and buried in Riverview Cemetery.

Lucy Potts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Potts died on Thursday at the home of James Potts of Klondike, Ohio on June 20, 1929. She was buried at Hookstown Cemetery.

Mrs. John Blausenhauer died at the home of her son, Charles C. Brenneman of Georgetown on June 21, 1929. She was buried at Hookstown Cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Childers died at her home at Beaver Falls on Thursday evening, June 27, 1929. Burial was at Beaver Falls Cemetery.
Mrs. H.H. Fife while at Midland on Tuesday evening ,Jan.28, 1929, taking treatments from Dr. Gardner was stricken with an heart attack and died in the office beside her husband Howard Fife. She leaves three children and two grand children, Cecil Chaffie, Ila Fife, Earl Fife, Sarah May and Thelma Ruth Fife.

Mr. H. Rice aged 86, died at his home near Ohioville Monday morning, May 15, 1933. He was buried at Longs Run Cemetery.
Mr. Robert Vankirk was found dead near the state line near Smiths Ferry, Pa. on Thursday morning, Aug.23, 1923. Mr. Vankirk had beaten his wife unconscious before killing himself. He was taken to Midland Undertaking Shop for burial. He was buried in his hometown of Calcutta at St. Paul Cemetery.

Mrs. Emma Vankirk wife of Robert Vankirk died Wednesday evening Sep. 26, 1923, she leaves one child.
