Shippingport Borough, Beaver County, Pa


Shippingport is a borough in Beaver County, Pennsylvania, along the Ohio River.

The population was 237 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3.6 square miles, of which, 3.3 square miles of it is land and 0.4 square miles of it (9.89%) is water.

Shippingport is famous for being the site of the United States's first commercial nuclear power plant, the Shippingport Atomic Power Station, which began operation in 1957.
