Adam, Howard A. "Private services were arranged by the Ludwick Funeral Home for Howard A. Adam, formerly of East Vine Street, Fleetwood, who died May 13 in ManorCare Health Services, West Reading, where he had resided since March 27.

Burial was in Zion Moselem Church Cemetery, Kutztown. Born in Richmond Township, he was a son of the late James H. and Maggie E. (Adam) Adam. He was a self-employed farmer in Richmond Township for more than 60 years.

Adam was a member of Zion Moselem Lutheran Church, Kutztown.

Surviving are two brothers, Raymond S. Adam, Kutztown, and Amandus I. Adam, Hamburg; and two sisters, Helen C. (Adam) Miller, Kutztown, and Anna M. (Adam) Wolfe, Fleetwood."

Adams, Charles H. "The funeral of Charles H. Adams, 45, husband of Mrs. Lottie (Reinert) Adams, who died Nov. 18 in his Kutztown R. 3 residence, was held this afternoon in the Fritz & Kendall Funeral Home. The Rev. Jacob W. Bittner officiated. Burial was in Hope cemetery.

A native of Kutztown, he was a son of Solomon and Bertha (Herbein) Adams and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran church, the Social Club, Hoch-Balthaser Post No. 480, American Legion, Kutztown; Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Breinigsville; Allentown Owls, and the Kutztown, Lyons and Keystone (Boyertown) fire companies.

He was an Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Surviving besides his widow are a daughter, Sandra, Reading, a stepdaughter, Priscilla, at home, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Lester Warmkessel and Mrs. Albert Eschbach, Kutztown; John, Topton; Harold Bowers; Paul, Boyertown; Donald, Yellow House; Mrs. Melvin Grimes, West Lawn; Mrs. Sharon Greenawalt, New Tripoli, and Mrs Claude Dorward, Allentown."

Alspach, Robert R. Robert R. Alspach Jr., 73, former shop owner, racer and Berks automobile shop owner and hill-climb standout, died July 18, 2005 at 4:45 p.m. in the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice at St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem.

Alspach, of Fogelsville, Lehigh County, formerly of Reading, was the husband of Dr. Patricia Mary Enzman.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Robert R. Sr. and Florence (Schaeffer) Alspach.

Alspach was the owner of Alspach Auto Service, Cumru Township, for 33 years, where he worked as an automobile mechanic, retiring in 2001.

He was a graduate of Reading High School.

Alspach was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.

Active in local motor sports, Alspach holds several records with the Pennsylvania Hill Climb Association and placed first numerous times at the Reading Duryea Hill Climb.

Alspach is also survived by a son, Paul R., at home; and two daughters, Susan L. Alspach, Auburn, Schuylkill County, and Deborah K. (Alspach) Pellicotti, Reading.

Other survivors include a brother, David, Reading. There are also three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Michael, in 1959.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Sinking Spring Cemetery.

Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale, is in charge of arrangements.

Anderson, Maranda Rebecca ANDERSON - In Cumru thownship, on Dec. 4th, Maranda Rebecca, dauaghter of Benjamin and Mary Anderson, aged 18 years, 1 month and 11 days. The relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral without further notice from the residence of the parents, at the Berks county Alms House, on Saturday morning at 8:30 o'clock, at the house. Services and Interment at Zion's Church, Womelsdorf.

Additiona article in same paper dated 8 Dec 1878: LARGE FUNERAL: The funeral of Miss Maranda R. Anderson, daughter of Benjamin Anderson, Steward at the County Almshouse, which took place yesterday, was largely attended. After a short service at the house the cortege, consisting of a large number of carriages, proceeded to Womelsdorf, where Rev. Thos., C. Leinbach preached the funeral sermon in Zion's Church, and was assisted in the services by Rev. M. L. Fritch. A large number of persons assembled in the church. The burial took place in the cemetery adjoining the edifice, after which dinner was werved at John H. Spatz's Wm. Penn Hotel, in Womelsdorf. Deceased, who was an estimable young lady 18 years of age, died suddenly after a short illness. In the early part of the summer she had been sick with bilious intermittent fever, from which after a lingering illness she recovered but did not fully regain her health.

Armstrong, Mabel Mabel, daughter of Paul and Louise Armstrong, died of scarlet fever at the home of her parents in Narvon, Lancaster county, aged 6 years, 4 months and 24 days. Arnold, Jacob J. JACOB J. ARNOLD died from the effects of a paralytic stroke about 8 p. m., Tuesday, at the home of his sister, Mrs. Harrison Peck, 232 South 10th, aged 43 years, 8 months and 26 days. Aoout 4 weeks ago he had his foot injured by a piece of iron falling on it, and was confined to the house up to a week ago when he was able to be about with the use of a cane. On Christmas morning: he was upstairs dressing, when his sister heard a noise as though some one had fallen. Going to his room she found her brother on the floor unable to arise. He was assisted to his bed and the family physician pronounced illness due to a stroke. He lapsed into unconsciousness, in which condition he remained until death. He was the son of Jacob and Catharine Arnold, both deceased, and was born in Womelsdorf, but resided in Reading ever since a child. He was never married and is survived by his sister, Mrs. Peck. Deceased was formerly a puddle helper at the Reading Sheet Mill, and for years was employed as teamster by his brother-in-law, Mr. Peck.
