Dengler, Harvey C. Killed While Hunting Rabbits: Special to The Inquirer. OLEY, Pa., Nov. 9 - Harvey C. Dengler, 17 years old, accidentally shot himself while hunting ribbits. He and his brother, John, 13 years old, chased a rabbit under a rail pile, and while John was doing sentinel duty at one end, Harvey laid flat on the ground, thinking he could chase the rabbit from his cover. He accidentally got against the gun, which discharged and the entire load penetrated his abdomen. He was rushed to the Homeopathic Hospital, Reading, where he died soon afterwards. 10 Nov 1917 Philadelphia Inquirer
