| Riffert, Andrew Brobst | Andrew Brobst Riffert died last evening at the residence of his sister, Ursula Briner, 714 Walnut Street, aged 60 years. The cause of death was pneumonia. Deceased who was a molder by trade, had been sick but a few days, suffering with a heavy cold, which he contracted while working at the Manhattan hardware works. He had not been working for some time owing to ill health and commenced working at his trade at the above place about two weeks ago. Deceased was a widower, a member of the Baptist church, also of Mianronomo tribe, No.45, Improved Order of Red Man, Phila. | Riffert, Valentine | Valentine Riffert, a well known citizen of Reading, died this morning at his late residence, 443 Mulberry street, aged 70 years. His disease was Bright's disease of the kidneys. He was ill all summer, but was only confined to bed for the past four weeks. Mr. Riffert was best known in connection with his occupation of stage driver, which he commenced when quite a young man and followed nearly all his life time, or up to a short time ago, when he was compelled to relinquish it by reason of ill health. Mr. Riffert drove stages for Tobias Barto and other parties, and before the advent of railroads in every section of this and adjoining counties, extended his travels to almost every village within a radius of 50 miles from Reading. He leaves a wife and two children - John Riffert, a car inspector, and Harry Riffert, also employed by the P. & R. company.
