Snyder, Samuel M.

A Soldier Murdered - A despatch from Cincinnati, dated June 9, says that "Samuel Snyder, of Reading, Pa., a soldier of the 50th Penna. Regiment was found murdered in the street this morning. The murderer is unknown.

Samuel M. Snyder, a son of Henry Snyder, of this city, was a memeber of Company B, 50th Penna. Regiment. His parents are in possession of a letter from him, dated May 13th, at which time he was with his Regiment near Somerset, Kentucky. He then wrote that they were about to march down toward the Cumberland river, and across into Tennessee. They have had no information in regard to him since that date. Whether he is the soldier whose murder was announced in the above despatch, is not yet definitely known; althought the similarity of name, as well as the number of the Regiment, would seem to leave very little doubt as to his identity.
