Slippery Rock Borough, Butler County, Pa


Located in Butler County.

The population was 3,068 at the 2000 census.

It is also known as "Slimy Pebble." The town of Slippery Rock was formerly called Centreville, but it was changed in the early 1890s because George Washington's troops slipped in the creek attempting to capture the local Indians.

The borough has a total area of 1.7 square miles, all of it land.
