Ashland - An Aged Lady's Death. Mrs. Catherine Fetterman, widow of George Fetterman, died of paralysis at Neumidia, about three miles north of this place. she arose as usual, ate a hearty breakfast, but shortly after complained of stiffness of the tongue and soon expired. Had she lived till April next she would have reached the age of 85 years. She is survived by 12 children, 33 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Isaac Dyer and Mrs. C. H. Barnard, of this place, are her daughters. Interment at Neumidia on Thursday. – Contributed by Vicki Hartman

Death came suddenly to Daniel
Fenstermacher, on of Catawissa’s
well known citizens, last Monday morning about 7:30. With Street Commissioner
Weaver he was engaged in opening a drain of Railroad street at John
Yeager’s and finishing this job was transferring material and tools
to the corner of Guinn’s alley, when he suddenly fell forward to the
ground and was dead when assistance reached him. The body was removed to
his home on South Fourth street. He had been a sufferer with heart trouble
for a number of years and of late had felt its effects severely. He was feeling
about as usual Monday morning and had not complained particularly.
He ws 71 years of age the 16th of last January, was a native of Locust township,
but had resided in Catawissa the greater part of his life. For many years
he was in the employ of the Reading RR Co. as car inspector and cleaner.
He leaves a widow and one daughter, Mrs. Irvin Roeder. A brother J.P.
Fenstermacher, also survives him.

Jacob Fetterman, an aged resident
of Roaringcreek township, died last Monday after an illness of but a day.
He had been in poor health for some time, being subject to heart trouble.
His age was 61 years, 4 months and 24 days. He was married three times. His
first wife was a daughter of the late Samuel Keller, his second wife was
the widow of Amza Craig, and his third wife, who survives him, is from the
vicinity of Ringtown. Besides his widow there also survive him six daughters
and a son by his first marriage, none of whom live at home. For a number
of years deceased worked in the mines at Centralia, then followed blacksmithing
at that place. About 18 years ago he moved to the valley, since when, until
poor health compelled him to give up hard work, he farmed and carried on
blacksmithing. The funeral will take place Friday at 10 a.m. services and
interment at Millgrove, Rev. I.M. Bachman, officiating.

Mrs. Jacob Fetterman, Montana (now
Arities, PA) was buried at Numidia on Feb. 2nd. A son who died in the south
was buried on Jan. 29th.

A little five year old daughter of
Uriah Fetterman, of Roaringcreek
township, in company with other children were playing with a grind stone,
on Thursday, when in some manner the stone was overturned and fell on the
little girl. The wood covering on the handle had been broken off leaving
nothing but a thin round iron which struck the little child in the eye and
penetrated the head to the depth of several inches. It was truly a heartrending
scene when the family found their little one so horribly and painfully and
fatally injured. Death soon relieved the poor child and she is now at rest
in the bright home beyond the skies.

Michael Fetterolf, of Mifflin twp.,
died suddenly Friday of last week at the residence of his son Daniel in Main
twp. Interment at John’s Church on Tuesday. The deceased was nearly
77 years of age.

In Bloomsburg, on Wednesday night of last week, a German by the name of
John
Fritz went to the silver wedding
of a friend in Corning. He got full of beer, and about midnight started for
his home on Erie avenue, near the American Hotel. He was found next morning
in the river, near the glass factory, in about a foot of water, dead. The
jury found a verdict of accidental drowning.
