1839 Tax List for Washington Township, Greene County, PA

Continuing with the earliest tax lists for each township in Greene County, we have herewith the Washington Township list for the year 1839. Washington Township was established in 1838 and comprised land formerly in Morgan, Morris and Franklin Townships. The assessor was Christian J. Parker and occupations were not identified; however, most were farmers.

Previous townships listed have been Aleppo (1818), Center (1820), Cumberland (1798), Dunkard (1809), Franklin (1809), Greene (1797), Jackson (1841), Jefferson (1800), Marion (1836), Monongahela (1830), Morgan (1800), Morris (1800), Perry (1843) and Richhill (1804).
