FRANCIS M. BERKEMEYER, of the firm of Berkemeyer, Keck & Co., printers, stationers, blank book manufacturers and dealers in office supplies, is the son of Lewis C. and Malinda Jane (Keck) Berkemeyer. He was born in East Penn Township, Carbon Cuonty, Pa., and his early education was received in teh public schools of Kutztown, and later at the Keystone State Normal School, Kutztown. Later he graduated with the class of 1888. After assuming the nanagement of a drug store in Philadelphia for a period of six years, he came to Allentown in 1894, and with his brother, Charles F. Berkemeyer, and Fred M. Bechtel, started the present printing establishment. Since then the last two named withdrew their interests; Ray N. Keck was admitted and the firm name was changed to Berkemeyer, Keck & Co. Mr. Berkemeyer takes a leading part in many civic and religious movements. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Layment's Missionary Movement of the Reformed Church, and is playing an important part in the success of St. James Reformed Church. He is a member of the Court Board of Visitors, Associated Charities, Chamber of Commerce, Odd Fellows and Rotary Club. Since its organization, he has held the position of secretary of Jordan Lodge of Masons. Mr. Berkemeyer married Mary Ann Neff.
