OSCAR F. BERNHEIM, treasurer and registrar of Muhlenberg College, was born in Mount Pleasant, N.C., November 16, 1868, the son of Rev. Dr. Gotthardt D. and Elizabeth (Clayton) Bernheim. He was educated in private schools at Wilmington, N. C.; in North Carolina College, Mount Pleasant, N.C.; in the academic department of Muhlenberg College, and in the college itself, from which he was graduated with the class of 1892. While at college he became an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, and also served as editor-in-chief of the Muhlenberg, from September, 1891, to February, 1892. Following his graduation he became private secretary to Hon. Constantive J. Erdman, who served as representative from the Berks-Lehigh District in the Fifty-third (1893-1895) Congress. From 1895 to 1897, Mr. Bernheim engaged in various pursuits, such as the furniture business, manager of foundry and machine shop, and cement industries. Since 1907 he has been serving as treasurer and registrar of Muhlenberg College. Mr. Bernheim is well equipped for the position he holds, and enjoys the confidence of the college authorities, as well as the good will of the student body. He is a Lutheran in religion and a Democrat in politics. May 22, 1895, he married Bella G., daughter of B. M. and Emeline (Gundie) Krauss.
