GOTTLIEB BEUHLER, head of the Buehler Furniture Company, was born in the village of Huenterbuechlsberg, kingdom of Wurtemberg, Germany, September 25, 1857. he received his educational traiing in the school of his native village and learned the trade of carpenter. After pursuing this avocation in his native state untile 1881, he emigrated to the United States, landing in New York City during the fall of 1881. He at once took up his abode in Allentown, and found employment at his trade with the firm, Schlegel & Ziegenfuess, manufacturers of parlor furniture frames, and here the young mechanic with characteristic energy and German grit, built the fundations of a most successful career. After sixteen years of service with other similar manufacturers, Mr. Buehler began business on his own account. He first rented the Reeder building where he continued to manufacture parlor furniture frames and other wares of like nature. In 1898 Mr. Beuhler removed his vusiness to the new building at Front and Chew Streets, where the enterprise has been most successfully carried on up to the present time. The establishment has been recognized as one of the leading of its kind in the city and gives employment to more than 250 men. The product is sold principally to dealers in Chicago, New Orleans and points in the South and West. Mr. Beuhler is director of the Merchants National Bank since its organization, and a director of the Security Building Association. H e is a prominent Elk and closely connected with the various German-American societies in this locality. On September 10, 1882 he married Frederica Breightmyer, daughter of George Breightmyer, of Wurtemberg, Germany. |
