GEORGE E. K. GUTH, of Guth Brothers, proprietors of the Lafayette Hotel is the son of Albert J. D. and Sarah A. (Kressley) Guth. He was born November 18, 1882, on the family homestead in South Whitehall Township, Lehigh County, Pa. He received his primary education in the public schools, and later entere Muhlenberg College, from which institution he was graduated with the class of 1905. Following the death of his father on March 18, 1904, he formed a partnership with his brother, Elmer A. Guth, in conducting the Lafayette Hotel, 133-137 North Seventh Street. This is one of the oldest inns in Lehigh county, and their father before them, had given the establishment much popularity. But the sons, who belong to the more modern school of progressive business men, have followed with many and important improvements, which have resulted in making the hostelry one of the most attractive and up to date in the community. Mr. Guth is a member of the Alpha Tau Omega college fraternity, and of the B. P. O. E. In 1906 he married Esther A., daughter of R. Peter and Rebecca Steckel, of Allentown.
