OSCAR L. HENNINGER, commissioner of Lehigh County, Pa., was born February 2, 1863, the son of Charles and Adaline (Roth) Henninger. His education was a liberal one and was acquired in the public schools, Muhlenberg College and the Allentown Business College, from which he was graduated in 1882. His early years were spent on the homestead farm, and he commenced cultivating this in 1885, and five years later putcahsed this valuaable tract, which he greatly improved. In 1909 he set out a peach orchard of 150 acres, which has been highly productive. Politically he is a Democrat and has served as school director for a period of twelve years, during this time being in office as president, secretary and treasurer of the school board of his township. In 1915 he was elected by a vast majority on the Democratic ticket to the office of commissioner of Lehigh County. His administration ahs been on eof credit to himself and the population he serves. He was appointed chariman of the Lehigh Northampton Bridge Commission. He is a member and trustee of the Lutheran Church, Mickleys. Mr. Henninger's first wife was Ida R., daughter of George and Susanna (Schmoyer) Benner. Later in 1891 he wedded Sevilla, daughter of James and Lucy (Gangwere)Hammel, of South Whitehall Township. |
