THOMAS B. HOLSTEIN, leader of the Pioneer Bankd, is a descendant of a musical family, his father having been a member of the Allentown Band. He was born in Allentown and educated in the public schools. Early in life he displayed an aptitude and fondness for music, and became a member of the Allentown Band. In 1895 he was elected director of the Pioneer Band, a struggling young organization. Instantly the band started to show signs of improvement, and his connection with it has been coincident with its rise to popularity. The organization with Mr. Holstein at its head has been connected with numerous charitable enterprises. He was the originator of the idea of celebrating Hallowe'en by means of a municipal parade. He is a woodcarver by trade. He is a member of the F. O. E., Red Men, Jordan Lodge of Masons, and other organizations.
