FRED H. HORLACHER, president and general manager of the Horlacher Brewing Company, was born in Philadelphia, Pa., November 11, 1868, a son of Fred and Caroline (Schwartz) Horlacher. After being educated in the public and private schools, he came to Allentown in 1886 and became associated with his father in the conduct and management of what was then known as the Horlacher Bottling Company. In 1888 Mr. Horlacher purchased his father's interest in the business. Two years later he organized the Allentown Ice Manufacturing Company, the first ice manufacturing concern in Pennsylvania. In 1896 the name of the HOrlacher Bottling Company was changed to that of the Allentown Brewing Company and later the firm was incorporated under the name of the Horlacher Brewing Company. Mr. Horlacher is president and general manager of this firm, whose product is shipped to all parts of the country. Mr. Horlacher is also interested in other commercial enterprises, the largest among which is the Allentown Ice and Cold Storage Company, which was organized in 1913

He is a keen-minded business man and enjoys the trust and confidence of all who know him. He is active in the social and civic life of the community and is a member of the various local Masonic bodies, Elks and other social and fraternal organizations.

On March 24, 1892, Mr. Horlacher married Myra Dillinger, daughter of Captain John P. Dilliger, of Allentown.
