RODNEY R. IREDELL, journalist, and president of the Chronicle and News Publishing Company, was born in Allentown, October 1, 1883, a son of Robert Iredell, Jr., founder of the company of which his son is now head. He is a descendant of a family of publishers, his father prior to coming to Allentown having been proprietor of the Norristown Herald, of which his grandfather was the first publisher. Mr. Iredell controls the destinies of the Chronicle and News, Allentown's leading evening newspaper. After being educated in teh local schools; Muhlenberg Preparatory School; Lawrenceville School, Lawrenceville, N. J., and Drexel Institute, Philadelphia, Mr. Iredell began his newspaper career. At different periods he was reporter and proofreader, and upon the death of his brother, Lloyd J. Iredell, in 1911, became the business manager of the paper. In March, 1912, the company was incorporated and he was named president and general manager. he is an able executive, and the paper has enjoyed a steady growth since he has taken charge. He is a member of the Livingston, Lehigh Country, Elks and Writers' Clubs; the Jordan Lodge of Masons, and the Good Will Fire Company. On June 1, 1911, he married Kathleen Seagraves, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Seagraves, of Allentown. |
