EDGAR E. KNERR, treasurer and manager of John Taylor & Co., proprietors of the Globe Store, was born in Allentown, June 8, 1875. He was educated in the public schools and the American Commercial School, after which he became a bookkeeper. His first employment was with the firm of Clelland-Simpson-Taylor as an errand boy. Later he bacame their bookkeeper and greatly through his integrity and perseverance rose from one position to another, until 1907, when he was admitted into the firm and was made secretary. The firm name in the meanwhile had been changed to John Taylor & Co. Following the death of Joh Taylor he was elected treasurer and manager of the firm. The Globe Store is one of the oldest, and yet most complete, dry goods establishments in eastern Pennsylvania. In political affairs, Mr. Knerr is a Democrat and served as common councilman from the Tenth Ward. He is a member of Allentown Lodge, No. 130, B.P.O.E.; Allen Lodge, No. 71, I.O.O.F.; Unity Encampment, and K.G.E. He married Sallie Beidler, daughter of Wilson Beidler, of Allentown.
