W. LEVAN LAWFER, senior member of the Lawfer Automobile Company, was born in Allentown, September 13, 1887, a son of J. Harry and Lillie S. Lawfer. He was educated in the public schools, attended the Allentown High School and was graduated from the Bethlehem Preparatory School in 1906. Later he attended Lafayette College and the American Commercial School. During the fall of 1907 he bacme associated with hit father in the automobile business, in the firm appearing under the name of Lawfer Automobile Company. This firm was one of the pioneers in that business in Allentown. In the spring of 1910 they erected a modern fireproof garage at the corner of Twelfth and Hamilton Streets, at a cost of $25,000. This firm controls the agencies od the Chalmers and Ford automobiles, having an output of 125 Chalmers and 400 Fords each year. Aside from this, they are the largest and most extensive dealers in used and second-hand cars in the city. Upon the death of his father, w. Levan Lawfer became the senior member of the firm. He is vice president of the Lehigh Valley Suto Trades Association, and a member of the S. L. A. D., Phi Delta Theta Franternity, and Christ Lutheran Church. On February 18, 1914, hemarried MIldred S. Koch, daughter of Horatio Koch, of Allentown. |
