PETER W. LEISENRING, business manager of the Allentown Morning Call, the city's leading newspaper, was born in Allentown, March 26, 1884, a son of Captqain T. B. Leisenring, who commanded Co. G, Forty-seventh Pennsylvania Infantry, furing the Civil War, and wife Anie E., a deputy in the department of Labor and Industry in the State of Pennsylvania since 1893. He was educated in the public schools, and was graduated fro the Allentown High School in 1900, and from Muhlenberg college in 1904. During his college course he took up newspaer work and immediately following his graduation, he became reporter for the paper of which he is now business manager. Mr. Leisenring possesses high ideals in business methods, and as business manager of the Call Publishing Company has been a marked success. He is a descendant of a family of publishers and printers, his grandfather, Nelson Weiser, having been identified with the early history of publishing in eastern Pennsylvania, and his father, Captain T. B. Leisenring, having been editor of the Lehigh Valley Daily News, the first daily published in the Lehigh Valley. He is president of the Allentown Flag Association for the last six years, and a trustee of the Lehigh County Humane Society. He also promoted the first Allentown Automobile Show, and is a member of the following; Barger Lodge, No. 333, F. And A. M., and Allen chapter, No. 203, R.A.M.; Allentown Lodge of Elks; Allen Lodge of Odd Fellows and Unity Encampment, and Allen Camp, Sons of Veterans. He married Helen M., daughter of Mr. and Mr.s Peter B. Yoder, an old Lehigh County family. |
