WALTER C. LOTTE, manager of the National Silk Dye Works, East Allentown, is the son of Edward A. and Pauline (Gerbron) Lotte, and was born in Philadelphia, Pa., October 12, 1875. He was educated in the public schools of his native city, graduating from the high school in 1894. He then took up a course in chemistry and dyeing in the Pennsylvania Museum and School of Industrial Arts at Philadelphia. In 1896 he engaged in the silk dyeing business in connection with his brothers. Under the incorporation of this company in 1899, he was made one of the vice presidents, which position he retained until the company was merged into the National Silk Dye Company, when he became manager of the Allentown plant. The company has five other plants, and altogether gives employment to three thousand men. Mr. Lotte, who is a progressive citizen and an alert business man, in 1911 was one of the organizers of the Ridge Avenue Deposit Company, and is a director of that institution. He is a member of the Livingston Club; the Lehigh Country Club; Allentown Writers’ Club; Jordan Lodge, F. and A. M., and Zion U. B. Church. In 1904 Mr. Lotte married M. Catharine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Obediah Hertz, of Allentown.
