Danville Intelligencer, Danville, Friday, May 8, 1874
Baldy-In this place on Tuesday, May 5th, 1874, Charles O Baldy, aged 56 years, 7 months and 17 days.
In the life of Mr. Baldy we have an evidence of what energy and perseverance can accomplish. In 1840 he came to
Danville a poor boy, entirely dependent upon his own exertions for a livelihood. By persevering industry he accumulated
a large amount of property and leaves his family amply provided for. Mr. Baldy was a kind neighbor, an affectionate
husband and father, and his family will mourn the “vacant chair.”
