Oath of Allegiance (Citizenship) for Schuylkill County PA

Be it Remembered that on the ninteenth day of July A. Domini 1830 -- ,

Personally appeared John Gessly a native of the kingdom of Wittenburg. Before the Prothonotary.

a clerk of the Court of Common pleas of the county of Schuylkill in said Commonwealth of Penn{superscript s]

and upon his solemn oath did depose and say that he is a native of the Kingdom of Wittenburg. Germany. now residing in the said County of Schuylkill & state aforesaid. aged about forty two years. and that It is Bona fide his intention to Become a Citizen of the United States and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Prince, States -- Potentate or Sovereignty whatever and particularly to William The Present King of Wittenburg of whom he is now a subject-

Be it remembered that at a Court of Common pleas held at Orwigsburg of and for the county of Schuylkill the 26th day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty one -- Personally appeared John Gessley a native of the Kingdom of Wittenburg. Before the said court upon his solemn oath did depose and say that he is a native of the Kingdom of Wittenburg, Germany Now residing in the said County of Schuylkill in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania aged about forty three year. and that It is Bona fide his intention to become a Citizen of the United States, and to renounce forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign Princes, states, potentates or sovereignty whatever and particularly to William The present King of Wittenburg of whom he is now a subject -- [ Johannes Gessley signed here in German style script]

Henry Rinehimer - a citizen of the United States being duly sworn according to laws says that he is well acquainted the within named Petitioner and that to his knowledge and belief he has resided within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States for five years last past and for one year last past within the State of Pennsylvania.

That during the Same period he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States and well disposed to the good order and harmony of the Same.

And now to wit October 1, 1834 At a Court of Common Pleas held at Orwigsburg in and for Schuylkill County. The aforegoing Petition and Affidavits being read, the court Admitted the said John Guesele to become a Citizen of the United States he was accordingly sworn in
