*Warren B. Purcell (Army serial No. 1098636), sergeant, Company F, 56th Infantry, 7th Division. For extraordinary heroism in action near Preny. France, November 1, 1918. Sergt. Purcell courageously led his half platoon against an enemy machine-gun nest, capturing it, killing several of the enemy, and taking six prisoners. He was later killed in action.
