U.S.
Troops We understand that Company II, Capt. Swartwaut, of the
2nd Regiment of Artillery, now at Fort Adams in his harbor, received
orders yesterday morning to proceed immediately to New York from whence
they will probably go to the seat of war. Company E, Capt. Merchant,
of the same Regiment, now stationed at Fort Trumbull, New London harbor,
have been ordered to garrison Fort Adams and are expected here
tonight. Capt. Swartwout's Company of Flying Artillery is one of the
best we have ever seen and is an honor to the American Army. There
are no better officers in the service and the privates are as good looking
fellows as can be found anywhere. Success to them. - Submitted by
