BARTON, Gen. William, the captor of the British General, Prescott in Rhode Island during the Revolution, died in Providence Oct. 22, in the 84th year of his age. During the Revolution, he held the rank of Colonel. After the war, Congress voted him a sword and grant of land in Vermont. BOWEN, Jabez - Died - In Providence, Hon. Jabez Bowen, aged 76, for many years Chancellor of Brown University. [The North American Review, July 1815, vol. 1, issue 2, sub. by K. Torp]

Railroad Accident-In Rhode Island, this day, Elisha BROWN, a man about sixty years of age, belonging to Pittsford, Vt., was killed at the station in Providence, by a train on the Hartford Road, while backing.
