Staubes-Brown

Aiken, June 16 - Wednesday afternoon the First Baptist church was the scene of a beautiful wedding when Miss Dora Belle Staubes, daughter of Mrs. Lewis Staubes, was wedded to Ernest E. Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Brown of this city. The church decorations consisted of palms and ferns, artistically placed.

The wedding march was played by Miss Bredenberg of Augusta and the wedding party entered, the bride on the arm of her brother, Clarence Staubes, and the maid of honor, Miss Beryle Bredenberg of Augusta, from the front, and the groom with his best man, J. Cleve Thomas, entering from the side entrance. They met at the altar and the marriage ceremony was performed by Rev. Phillip J. McLean, the ring ceremony being used. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Clarence Staubes. The ushers were: c. E. Edwards and Leon Holley.

The bride, who is a pretty brunette was most becomingly dressed in a gray traveling suit, with hat and gloves to match. The maid of honor wore a marquisette, with baby Irish lace, and white plume hat.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown left at 4:40 for Charleston, where they will spend a few days. The bride was the recipient of an unusually large number of handsome and useful presents.

The bride is very popular among a large circle of friends, and her sweet disposition and charming manner have won her countless acquaintances. The groom is the assistant postmaster of the Aiken postoffice and is held in the highest esteem by his hundreds of friends. (The State - June 17, 1911)
