Parker GRANITEVILLE. S.C. - Mrs. Ernest P.
(Gwendolyn Baker) Parker. 84. of 48 Canal St.. Graniteville,
died Monday at her residence. Graveside services will be
held today at 3 p.m. in the Graniteville. S.C, Cemetery with
the Rev. Rhett Winters officiating. She was a native of
Aiken County and a-lifelong resident of Graniteville. She was
a member of St; Paul's Episcopal Church.
Graniteville. Pallbearers will include Preston Posey Sr..
Charles Polatty. Julian Kneece. E.C. Thomas. Hugh Williams,
and Raymond Barton Friends may call at the residence.

Montgomery James L. Montgomery Passes at
Hospital GRANITEVILLE., S. C. May 24 —Funeral services
for James Lee Montgomery, who died at an Augusta. Ga. ,
infirmary May 24. will be conducted at Striffler Funeral Home.
Columbus, Ga., Friday afternoon at 5 o'clock, the Rev. James
G. Stroud officiating. Interment will follow in the Park Hill
cemetery. Mr. Montgomery, a native of North Carolina
lived in Columbus, Ga., for fifteen years. He has been a
resident of Graniteville for the past eight years. He
was the husband of the late Cordelia Greesman
Montgomery. Survivors are two daughters Mrs. N. L.
Straughn of Greensboro. N. C . and Mrs. C. K, Nease of
Columbus. Ga., one son, J. I. Montgomery Jr. of Graniteville.
S. C. three sisters. Mrs. A. M. Maness of Greensboro, N. C.,
Miss Pearl Montgomery of Draper, N. C and Mrs. J. T. Baldwin
of Gafney. S C . six grandchildren and a number of nieces and
nephews. Pallbearers; are John Fuller. R. C. Johnson.

and Merrell En trek in. The body will be at Posey's
Funeral home, Graniteville, S.C. until five o'clock Thursday
afternoon, after which it will be conveyed to Columbus, Ga.
and lie in state at funeral home until the hour of the

Paris. U. S. Army, of 402 Carolina Ave., New Ellenton. who
died Tuesday were held at 6 p.m. Thursday at George Funeral
Home Chapel, with Chaplain Arturet of Ft. Gordon
officiating. Graveside services will be held at 5 , p.m.
today in Springhill Memorial Garden. Chesnee, S. C directed by
Johnson Mortuary. A native of Chesnee. S. C, he had lived
in New Ellenton 14 years. He was fatallv injured in an
automobile accident near New Ellenton Tuesday. He way a Viet

GLOVERVILLE. SC. - Eddie Malcolm Palmer of
Gloverville died Thursday in a local hospital. Funeral
services will be held at 3 pm Sunday at Mt Pisgah Baptist
Church. Vidalia. Ga. Burial will be in McDonald Cemetery. A
native of Montgomery County. Ga. Mr. Palmer had lived in this
area for 25 years He was retired from Clearwater Finishing
Plant. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Eugene Leopard
and Mrs. Ruby Nell Craig, both of Gloverville, and Mrs. John
La Favor. Glennwood, Ga.: two sons. Eddie M. Palmer. Temple
City. Calif. and Hilton Palmer. Onoopee. Ga., two sisters.
Mrs. Rose Bud Adams. Kibbee, Ga.: Mrs. Bonnie Warnock.
Vidalia. Ga.; eight brothers, Judge G. Palmer. Langley, S. C.;
