Karl Ervin Hunsinger, Sr, 58, husband of Kelly Irvine Hunsinger, passed away after a short illness, Thursday, March 6, 2008 in Beaufort Memorial Hospital. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 10, 2008 from 6-8pm in Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at 10:00am in the Chapel of Anderson Funeral Home with burial in Beaufort National Cemetery with military honors. As a lifetime member of the VFW they are inviting family and friends to join them in memory of Karl after the service for a recession @ VFW #8760.Mr. Hunsinger was born January 8, 1950 in Ithaca, NY. He is the son of the late Robert Hunsinger and June Stark Hunsinger.Mr. Hunsinger served our country in the US Army, where he served in Vietnam. Karl returned to Beaufort in 1972 and began working at the Beaufort County Central Garage as a heavy duty equipment mechanic. Karl attended Beaufort County Schools. Surviving in addition to his wife of Beaufort; are two sons, Karl E. Hunsinger, Jr and Kyle A. Hunsinger; two daughters, Chrystal Hunsinger Paytosh and Kay Lynn Hunsinger; brothers, William and Douglas; sister Carol; six grandchildren, DJ Paytosh, Brittany Hunsinger, Brantley Taylor, Joshua Paytosh, Susanne Paytosh and Karleigh Hunsinger.The family suggests that donations be made to the American Lung Association, 1941 Savage Road, Suite 200A, Charleston, SC 29407 or American Cancer Association, P.O. W. Herman Hubbard 1931-2005

W. Herman Hubbard, 74, died Sunday at his home in Bluffton.

He was born in Ridgeland on April 4, 1931, to William Oswald Hubbard and Isadora Bryan Hubbard.  He was a farmer and owner of Hubbard Marine Construction. He attended the Okatie Baptist Church, enjoyed riding and caring for horses in the mountains of North Carolina and was a member of the Silver Spur Trail Riders in Dublin, Ga.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia H. Hubbard of Bluffton; two sons, William Herman Hubbard Jr. and Kerry Hubbard both of Bluffton; two stepsons, Jason and D.C. Hubbard, both of Hilton Head Island; two daughters, Michele Harvey and Cathy Lamb, both of Bluffton; two brothers, Carroll Hubbard and Earl Hubbard, both of Hardeeville, and four grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, in the Maye River Baptist Church Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Sauls Funeral Home, 90 Simmonsville Rd., Bluffton. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is helping the family with arrangements. Margaret (Marty) Hudson 1941 - 2007

Margaret (Marty) Hudson, 66, died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, at her home in Bluffton.  She was born in Charleston, W.Va., on Jan. 10, 1941, the daughter of the late Lyle Douglas and Ruth Eileen Davis Hale.

She was a retired medical secretary, a born-again Christian and a member of Maye River Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading. She is survived by her husband, Ernie Hudson of Bluffton; one brother, Lyle D. Hale Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; and one sister, Cynthia Zamzow of Phoenix, Ariz. She was predeceased by two sisters, Nellie Hall and Charlene Johnston.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10, 2007, at the Maye River Baptist Church in Bluffton with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2007, at Sauls Funeral Home in Bluffton. Sauls Funeral Home is assisting the family with their arrangements. Philip Halloway

BURTON - Services for Philip Halloway, 68, will be 10 a.m. Friday at First African Baptist Church, Port Royal, with burial in Beaufort National Cemetery with full military honors. Marshel's Wright-Donaldson Home For Funerals is in charge.

Mr. Halloway died Saturday. Born in Boston, he was a son of Alberta Holloway and the late Cooper Stokes. He retired from the U.S. Navy after 30 years. He was a Deacon at First African Baptist Church.

Surviving are his mother; adopted daughter, Robyn Decker; adopted son, Philip Cunningham; two sisters; five grandchildren. (State, The (Columbia, SC) - August 16, 2001)

Annie L. Lynes Hubbard
Hardeeville, SC - Annie L. Lynes Hubbard, 94, widow of Thomas C. Hubbard, died Sunday, November 28, 2004 in the Westview Nursing Center, Port Wentworth, GA.

She was born in Moncks Corner, SC., on April 23, 1910. She was the daughter of the late Richard Lynes and Eugenia Wren Lynes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Maye River Baptist Church, Bluffton, SC.

She is survived by two sons, Raymond C. Hubbard and E. Carlyle Hubbard both of Hardeeville, SC; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, November 29, 2004 at Sauls Funeral Home of Ridgeland, SC.  Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004 in the Maye River Baptist Church Cemetery, Bluffton, SC.

Bessie Hookstra

BEAUFORT - Services for Bessie Celeste Staley Hookstra, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Helena's Episcopal Church with burial in St. Helena's Episcopal New Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Anderson Funeral Home. Born in Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late Charles and Celeste Sanders Staley, she died April 25, 2003. Surviving are husband, Carl Hookstra Sr.; son, Carl Hookstra Jr.; daughter, Elizabeth Long; five grandchildren. (State, The (Columbia, SC) - April 27, 2003)

James Hogge

BEAUFORT - Services for James "Capt. Jim" Clinton Hogge, 83, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Helena's Baptist Church with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is from 5-7 tonight at Anderson Funeral Home.

Mr. Hogge died July 26, 2002. Born in Walterboro, he was a son of the late John Hogge and Lucille Hogge. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Surviving are wife, Ella Hogge; daughters, Pat Hogge-Clarkson, Sylvia Hogge-Waymire, Jamie Hogge-Hill; sisters, Hogge-Rooks, Mary Hogge-Rudisill, Anne Hogge-Pickney; other relatives. (State, The (Columbia, SC) - July 28, 2002)

Hazel Hubbard

RIDGELAND - Services for Hazel Sauls Hubbard, 92, widow of Francis Hubbard, 3 p.m. Friday at Faith Baptist Church with burial in Maye River Cemetery, Bluffton. Visitation is 6-8 tonight at Sauls Funeral Home. Born in Ridgeland to Fred and Elizabeth Sauls, she died September 16, 2003. She'd owned Hubbard's Bar-B-Que. Surviving are daughters, Carolyn Degler, Evelyn Willard, Shirley Rahn, Jackie Harren; 11 grands; 20 great-grands; 5 great-great-grands. (State, The (Columbia, SC) - September 18, 2003)

Haley Ann Hockemeyer 1991-2007

Haley Ann Hockemeyer, 15, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at the home of her grandparents in Hardeeville. She was born March 22, 1991 on Hilton Head Island, the daughter of Ruth Hockemeyer.  She was a graduate of Hilton Head Middle School. She enjoyed music, karaoke and movies.

She is survived by her mother of Bluffton; her maternal grandparents, Kenneth R. and Dana L. Hockemeyer Sr. of Hardeeville; her uncles and aunts, Ken and Linda Hockemeyer of Beaverton, Mich., Joye Cooney of Bluffton, Steve and Diane Fisher of Kittrell, N.C., John and Becky Hockemeyer of Midland, Mich., Bill Hockemeyer of Coleman, Mich., Terry and Robin Wehrman of Hot Springs, Ark. and Ed and Breea Hockemeyer of Farwell, Mich.; and nine cousins.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Maye River Baptist Church in Bluffton.

Victoria Teal Higgins

BEAUFORT - Victoria Teal Higgins, 10, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, in McLeod Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, December 22, at Copeland Funeral Home, with prayer service at 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 23, at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.

Victoria was born October 5, 1995, in Beaufort, a daughter of Elizabeth "Beth" Teal Higgins and Patrick Higgins.

She was a fourth grader at Mossy Oaks Elementary School.

Survivors include her parents of Beaufort; a brother, Nicholas Higgins of Beaufort; a sister, Emily Higgins of Beaufort; maternal grandmother, Patricia Teal of Cheraw, South Carolina; paternal grandparents, Martin and Joan Scheck Higgins of Beaufort.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mossy Oaks Elementary School, 2510 Mossy Oaks Road, Beaufort, South Carolina 29902. Copeland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (The State - December 23, 2005)
