Frankie Rowell

HARDEEVILLE - Services for Frankie Rowell, 72, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Maye River Baptist Church. Visitation is 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Anderson Funeral Home, Beaufort. Born in Ridgeland, a son of the late Robert and Ruby Dean Rowell, he died August 7, 2003. Surviving are wife, Minnie Cooler Rowell; sons, Steven, Stanley, John, Chris Rowell; siblings, Curtis Rowell, Barbara, Mamie Blocker, Eva Calhoun, Evelyn Crews; half sister, Myrtle Smith; 8 grands; 6 great-grands. Edward Rodgers
BEAUFORT - Edward Motte Rodgers, 78, husband of Winifred A. Rodgers, died May 26, 2004, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Family will receive friends on Friday, May 28, from 6:30-8:30pm at Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at 2:00pm at St. Helena's Episcopal Church with burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Rodgers was born in Beaufort, SC, on December 12, 1925, to the late Senator Edward Burton Rodgers and Elma Gay Rodgers.
He attended Beaufort public schools, was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a Bar Pilot at Port Royal Harbor. He was a charter member of the Propeller Club of Beaufort, Masonic Lodge 262 Port Royal, and a member of St. Helena's Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, of Beaufort, four daughters, Winifred Rodgers of Columbia, Mary King of West Jefferson, NC, Sarah Graham of Beaufort, Victoria Tracy of Beaufort; two sons, Burt Rodgers and Motte Rodgers of Beaufort; one sister, Sarah R. Keller of Beaufort, SC and one brother, John Rodgers of Columbia, SC; 5 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He was predeceased by a sister, Elma Jeffrey, and three brothers, Legare Rodgers, Walter Rodgers and Henry Rodgers.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Dr., Suite 205, Columbia, SC 29204. (The State - May 28, 2004)

Jalanie C. Riley

OKATIE - Jalanie C. Riley, 90, a senior aide with the Hardeeville Senior Citizens Center, died Tuesday at her residence. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Maye River Baptist Church in Bluffton. Burial, directed by Sauls Funeral Home, will be in the Maye River Cemetery.

Mrs. Riley was born in Hardeeville, a daughter of William J. Cooler and Annie Jane Brabham Cooler. She was an active member of Maye River Baptist Church. She was the widow of Edward W. Riley. Surviving is a daughter, Grace R. Cooler of Okatie. (Post and Courier, The (Charleston, SC) - August 26, 1998)
