CHILD GLAD FOR DOG Thankful That "Gyp" Escaped Motor Accident The State, Columbia, SC - November 23,  1922 Greenwood, Nov. 22 - "Well, I am glad Gyp wasn't with us." little Billy Morgan sighed thankfully yesterday afternoon, as she was rescued from the wreckage of a closed car, which plunged over a 15 foot embankment into Hard Labor creek, with the little girl, her sister, Annie Lee Morgan and Mrs. A. T. Jamison, wife of Dr. A. T. Jamison, superintendent, Gyp is the frisky fox terrier that is the playfellow of the two little girls. Beyond slight bruises, Mrs. Jamison and the two children received no injuries in the plunge which wrecked the car. The first thought of the youngest child was for the safety of her pet dog. Greenwood, Sept 14 - According to Greenwood county officers who returned tonight from the search for Will Harris, one of the two negroes alieged to have beaten almost to death and robbed H. Johns and his wife, an aged couple, near Vaughanville, on the Newberry-Laurens county line Monday night, hope for the capture of Harris had apparently been given up.  A report reached Greenwood late this afternoon that the negro had been surrounded in a swamp, three miles from Troy, in this county.  Officers believe this was only a stray negro, and not the negro sought.  Bloodhounds were called in early tonight and Sheriff Cannon Blease returned to Newberry. John Calvin Golden, the negro captured is alleged to have made a full confession implicating Harris, is in the Newberry county jail.  Last reports stated that he was still alive, though he and his wife both sustained serious injuries from the railroad spike in the hands of the negroes.  No trace of the money, said to have been stolen from a strong box in the old couple's store, has been found, according to reports.(The State, September 15, 1921) The Daily Mail, Anderson, S.C., July 27, 1948 Mr. and Mrs. Wade Clifton Evans Miss Edna Merle Bright Weds Wade Clifton Evans Greenwood, July 27 - Miss Edna Merle Bright, daughter of Mrs. James Lewis Bright, became the bride of Wade Clifton Evans Saturday afternoon, July 10, at five o'clock.  The Rev. Dr. G. H. Moore officiated at his home in Greenwood.  Only the immediate families and close friends of the bridal couple were present. The bride wore a white waffle pique afternoon dress with matching white veiled hat, lace gloves, and white shoes.  She carried white prayer book topped with two white orchids showered with ribbons and tuberoses. Mrs. Bright, mother of the bride, wore a black printed silk with corsage of white carnations. Mrs. Evans, youngest daughter of Mrs. Bright and the late James Lewis Bright, is employed here at the Nantex Manufacturing Company. Mr. Evans is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Evans of Hampton.  He is bookkeeper for Balentine Motors of this city. The bride later changed to a blue eyelet dress with peplum for traveling wearing the orchids as a corsage.  After the wedding trip to the mountains, they are now making their home at 1301 South Main Street.
