Thomas Jefferson Burnett was born Dec. 17, 1814 and died at his home near Dyson's, SC, June 15, 1903. He moved to the place where he died in 1836.

He was a consistent member of the Sister Spring's Baptist Church for 67 years. He was married 4 times, his last wife was the widow King, her maiden name was Miss Eliza Polatty, who still survives him.

Mr. Burnett was a good neighbor and kind friend and was a strong believer in upholding civil law. He went down to the grave in a full age; like as a shock of corn cometh in, in his season. Greenwood Journal - May 27, 1897, p2
contributed by Billie Jones

"On the same night and near the same hour of Mrs. Lewis' death (given in the paragraph above as May 11) Jno Trapp, only child of Mr. and Mrs. Jno. L. Cook, was called from this world to the brighter world beyond.  John Trapp was a bright little child nearly nineteen months old.  He was buried at Mountain Creek church.  The funeral and burial of Mrs. Lewis and John Trapp Cook was at the same time.  Rev. G. W. Bussey preached and it msut have touched the coldest heart to witness the burial fo a grand-mother of 77 years and a child of 18 months.  Surely the Lord calls us at all ages.

Contributors note: The following are buried with him at Mt. Creek:
Cook, Edgar                1913 - 1914
Cook, Margaret            1910 - 1912
Cook, Infant                  ----  - 1904
Cook, John Trapp        1895 - 1897

Cook, John Lewis          Nov 15 1872 - Mar 2 1931
Cook, Sallie TRAPP      Nov 23 1876 - Mar 27 1929
Death cert. of his parents

Conflict:  Cem. Records of Bold Springs Baptist Church, Greenwood Co, SC show Emily Kemp Cook buried with a JACOB P. Cook rather than John P. Cook??? however, I don't find a John P. Cook in the Cem. Records, just Jacob.
