Greenwood
County, South Carolina. Graduated from Clemson in 1934,
majoring in Mechanical Engineering, with activities of Band,
Concert Band, A,S.M.E., ROTC Swim Team.
Served in
World War II, Army Air Corps as a Major in
the 52nd Troop Carrier Wing.
Died July 11,
1943 during Operation Husky, the invasion of Sicily,
Major Jackson was on an aircraft carrying troops of the 505th
Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. The aircraft was shot down
by friendly fire by naval war ships that supported the
invasion. See MACR.
Major Jackson was
married to Virginia Jackson Stanley, a resident of
Clemson, South Carolina. They have one son and a
daughter. |
