Sales of Land

Mortgaged for the Paper Medium

Pursuant to an act passed on the 19th February, 1791, entitled "An act for gradually called in and sinking the Paper Medium, issued by virtue of an account entitle "An act to establish a medium of circulation by way of loan, and to secure its credit and utility," passed the 12th October, 1785. The State Treasurer in Charleston, gives notice, that on Wednesday, the 4th of April, he will dispose of at Public Sale, at the Exchange, to the highest bidder, the following lands, mortgaged to the Paper Medium Loan Office, and apply the nett proceeds, as directed by the said act, unless the respective defaulters, in the mean time make payment of the arrears of interest, and also one fourth part of the principal due on their respective bonds, together with the charges thereon. The sale will begin precisely at 11 o'clock, a.m. when the plats and other descriptions will be produced.

174 - A lot of land, north side of Broad street, next to Dr. Ramsay's

251 - Joseph Brailsford. A tract of land, adjoining his plantation, on C--Sawhatchie Swamp, 568 acres.

109- John and William A. Deas. A plantation in St. Thomas Parish, 681 ares, called the Blessing Plantation.

55 - Wm. Glen. A plantation in St. Thomas Parish, called Daniel's Island.

68 - Anthony Lee. A plantation, 516 acres, on the High Hills of Santee, Camden District.

84 - Wm. M'Connico. 300 acres, in the parish of St. Mark, Camden District; bounding by Camptain Samuel Little, ? & c.

137 - John M'Nair, Two tracts, viz: 600 acres in Craven County, north side of Bantee River; also 550 acres ditto, lies chiefly on the west side of Potatoe Creek, which makes 1150 acres, formerly purchased of Thomas Sumper.

379 - Daniel Mazyek. A plantation in St. John's Berkley, about 5 miles above Monk's Corner, known by the name of Somersett, containing 727 acres.

93 - James Peart. Two plantations in Beaufort District, one containing 850 acres, bought of Bellamy Crawford. Also another tract adjoining, 340 acres; composing in the whole plantation of 1190 acres, on the River May, on a swamp known by the name of Mill Swamp.

217 - Benjamin Postell and Luke Breen. A plantation in St. Bartholomew's Parish, 1102 acres. also 451 acres, which was bought of Mary Broabelt, bounded west on lands of Mrs. Giggleman, south on estate of Benjamin Webb, & c. & c.

172 - Richard A. Rapley. A plantation in Abbeville District, called Belleford, 1796 acres, bounded by lands of Joseph Salvador

392 - David Ramsay and George Watson. A lot of land situate on the south side of Tradd street, 47 feet front and 65 feet deep for the westernmost, and 39 feet front and 40 feet deep for the easternmost, 8 feet front, bounded to the 'Wm. by land of Wm. Donaldson, and E. by corner lot, owned by Messrs. Calswell and Trenholm.

38 - Singleton, Moore and Bremar. The following tracts, viz: 494 acres on the Wateree. Also another tract of 106 acres do. Also 703 acres, on Cane Savannah. Also 2000 acres, being a moiety of 4000 acres granted to Matthew Singleton, 16th July, 1784.

155 - John Wilson. A plantation in St. Paul's Parish, 529 acres, bounded by estate of James Stanyarne, & c.

164 - William Hazzard Wigg. A plantation on Port Royal Island, 590 acres; bounded by land of Mark Morris, Wm. Scott, & c.

259 - Jacob Williman. A lot of land east side of King street, 82 feet front, and in depth 233 feet; which lot of land was bought of Solomon Polloch.

365 - Richard Woodcrat. A plantation in St. Bartholomew's, containing 452 acres, about six miles from Jacksonborough; bounded by lands late of Barnard Elliott, Oswald Singleton, Van Marjinhoffs, & c.
