Mortgaged for the
Paper Medium
Pursuant to an act
passed on the 19th February, 1791, entitled "An act for
gradually called in and sinking the Paper Medium, issued by
virtue of an account entitle "An act to establish a medium of
circulation by way of loan, and to secure its credit and
utility," passed the 12th October, 1785. The State Treasurer
in Charleston, gives notice, that on Wednesday, the 4th of
April, he will dispose of at Public Sale, at the Exchange, to
the highest bidder, the following lands, mortgaged to the
Paper Medium Loan Office, and apply the nett proceeds, as
directed by the said act, unless the respective defaulters, in
the mean time make payment of the arrears of interest, and
also one fourth part of the principal due on their respective
bonds, together with the charges thereon. The sale will begin
precisely at 11 o'clock, a.m. when the plats and other
descriptions will be produced.

above Monk's Corner, known by the name of Somersett,
containing 727 acres.

Two plantations in Beaufort District, one containing 850
acres, bought of Bellamy Crawford. Also another tract
adjoining, 340 acres; composing in the whole plantation of
1190 acres, on the River May, on a swamp known by the name of
Mill Swamp.

Postell and Luke Breen. A plantation in St. Bartholomew's
Parish, 1102 acres. also 451 acres, which was bought of Mary
Broabelt, bounded west on lands of Mrs. Giggleman, south on
estate of Benjamin Webb, & c. & c.

Rapley. A plantation in Abbeville District, called Belleford,
1796 acres, bounded by lands of Joseph Salvador

and George Watson. A lot of land situate on the south side of
Tradd street, 47 feet front and 65 feet deep for the
westernmost, and 39 feet front and 40 feet deep for the
easternmost, 8 feet front, bounded to the 'Wm. by land of Wm.
Donaldson, and E. by corner lot, owned by Messrs. Calswell and
Trenholm.
