Nussman, Adolphus Rev. first located in Rowan County NC in 1772 near Second Creek and served Organ Church and Salisbury Churches for two years. He then arranged to have Mr. Arndt, an educated school teacher, ordained and then placed the Rowan County Church work in the hands of Mr. Arndt while he removed to another section in which today was the site of St. John’s Church, Cabarrus County NC. During the Revolutionary War he secreted himself in the tall undergrowth along the banks of a small stream near his house to escape the Tories. Recently a new marble headstone was placed on his grave replacing an old bluestone slab, which was worn with age. The old stone was placed inside St. John’s Church and still bears the German inscription "Christus ist mein Leben, Sterben ist mein Gewinn. Das Andenken der Gerechten bleibet in Segen. Heir ruhen die Gebeine des truen Predigers, Adolp Nussman in Deutschland geboren, im August 1739, gestorben den 3 ten November 1794." There are now 7214 Lutherans in NC. Some of Rev.
