Albert Herman Ezell

Julia Ezell

Albert Herman Ezell, 70, and his wife, Mrs. Julia Dickert Ezell, 60 died Friday at the Aiken County Hospital. Mr. Ezell died after several years of declining health. He was born in Chesnee, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Ezell. He had served in the United States Army during World War I.

Mrs. Ezell died suddenly at the Aiken Hospital. She was born in Newberry, the daughter of the late Jacob L. and Effie Counts Dickert. For several years she was clerk of the Aiken County Selective Service Board.

She is survived by her step-mother, Mrs. Annie H. Dickert of Newberry; three brothers, Forrest Dickert, Dr. Jesse Dickert, and Coke Dickert, all of Newberry; and five sisters, Mrs. Anna Hawkins, Mrs. Ellie Ringer, Mrs. Blance Dickert, and Mrs. Ruby Trice, all of Newberry, and Mrs. Alice Folk of Columbia.

Double funeral services were conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. from the Whitaker Funeral Home by Rev. J. W. King Jr. The interment followed in Rosemont Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Dr. Elbert Dickert, Neil Dickert, Ray Dickert, Carl Ringer, James Ringer, Douglas Ringer, Charlie Bowers, James H. Davis, Heyward Davis, Jabbo Folk, Gilder Cromer, P. K. Fuller, Otis Whitaker, and Dr. Drayton Nance. Whitaker Funeral Home was in charge.

Jacob Cornelius Epting

J. C. Epting, Little Mountain, Dies Tuesday

Jacob Cornelius Epting, 85, died suddenly late Tuesday afternoon at his home near Little Mountain. Before his retirement, Mr. Epting was a farmer and a carpenter and was the pioneer in Newberry County in growing incubator chickens. He was manager and superintendent of Little Mountain Oil Mill and had been bookkeeper of the Little Mounatin Farmers and Merchants Bank. He was a charter member of the Little Mountain Telephone Association. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the Church Council for many terms. He taught the Men's Bible Class for many years and also served as Superintendent of the Sunday School. He also served as Secretary and Treasurer of the Church for many years.

His wife, Mrs. Annie Riser Epting, died in 1942 and one daughter, Miss Willie Mae Epting, died in 1931. He is survived by three sons, J. Claude Epting of Hamlet, N.C., Elmer E. Epting of Newberry, and Ralph E. Epting of Little Mounatin; one daughter, Mrs. Joe W. (Janie) Mayer of Newberry; two sisters, Miss Eula Epting and Miss Chloe Epting, both of Little Mountain; seven grandchildren and two great-grand-children.

Funeral will be conducted at 5 p.m. today (Thursday) at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. Garth Hill. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Everette Lake, Waldo Huffman, Jim Davis, Leroy Wessinger, H. Dan Epting and George Epting. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Church Council and the members of the Sunday School Class. The body is at the Whitaker Funeral Home and will be placed in the Church one hour before the service. The Whitaker Funeral Home is in charge.

Donnie Eichelberger
NEWBERRY - Services for Donnie Ray Eichelberger, 44, of 1262 Player St., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Welch Zion Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Eichelberger died Tuesday. Born in Newberry County, he was a son of Etta Longshore Eichelberger and the late William Eichelberger Sr.

Surviving are his mother; daughters, Latonya Gevae Wise, ShaKIRA Franzetta Wise; brothers, James Eichelberger, Robert Lake, Henry Lake, William Eichelberger Jr., Wayne Eichelberger; two sisters; four uncles.

Marion Eargle
COLUMBIA - Services for Marion Richard Eargle, 87, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 12:15 p.m. in Rosemont Cemetery, Newberry. Memorials may be made to the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, is in charge.

Mr. Eargle died June 29, 2002. Born in Peak, he was a son of the late Jesse Lee and Willie Agnes Frick Eargle. Mr. Eargle enlisted in the Army in October 1936 and was assigned to the 1st Field Artillery Observation Battalion whose fighting motto was "We See and Hear". Later he was assigned to the 13th and 287th Field Artillery Battalion where he prepared young men to serve active duty overseas. He participated in the battles of Okinawa, the Philippines and Leyte. His post war service consisted of duty in Italy and England. During his military career he was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, Fort Meade, Maryland, and lastly Fort Bragg in North Carolina where he was assigned to Special Forces and where he remained until his retirement in August 1961. Mr. Eargle was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Pritchard Eargle; sister, Rosa Lee E. Corley of Easley; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Carlton O'Neil Eargle.

Martha Edwards
NEWBERRY - Services for Martha Singley Edwards, 71, will be held at 5 p.m. today at St. James Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of her son, 253 White Tail Lane, Pomaria. The family suggests that those desiring may make memorials to St. James Lutheran Church, 228 Jalapa Road, Newberry, SC 29108. Mrs. Edwards died Thursday, May 18, 2000. Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Willie Lee and Lois Taylor Singley. She was retired from Monsanto and was a member of St. James Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her sons, Thomas G. Edwards of Newberry, Robert M. Edwards and his wife Rebecca of Pomaria, Jamey Edwards of Lexington; daughters, Cynthia Edwards of Cayce, Karen Edwards of Columbia; sisters, Helen Crowder of Newberry, Leila Kay Little of West Columbia, Carolyn Choice of South Congaree; brother, Lee Singley of Lexington; granddaughters, Savanna Edwards, Genie Edwards

Christopher Robert Epting
Christopher Robert Epting, 24, or Route 3, Box 99-B, Prosperity, died Wednesday afternoon. He was born in Prosperity, a son of Mrs. Trudie Bedenbaugh Epting and the late Robert F. Epting. He was a co-owner and manage of Epting Automotive Service, Inc. of Newberry.

He graduated from Mid-Carolina High School and attended Midlands Technical College and was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Little Mountain. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cindy Chapman Epting; a son, Christopher Douglas Epting of the home; his mother, of Prosperity; a sister, Miss Jenny Epting of Prosperity; a brother, Rodney F. Epting of Prosperity.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church with Rev. W. Osborne Herlong conducting the services. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home until the hour of the service. The family suggests those desiring make memorials to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers are Randy Epting, Stewart Lake, Mike Williams, Helmes Epting, Bart Chapman and Jimmy Braswell. McSwain-Evans Funeral Home is in charge.

Ernestine Bickley Enlow
Ernestine Bickley Enlow, 76, died Dec. 31, 2002.   Born in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Zeda Banks Bickley.  Survivors: Husband, Carl Davis Enlow; sons, Roger, Wallace and Mikel Enlow; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren.  Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Graveside services: 10 a.m. Friday at Newberry Memorial Gardens.  Memorials: Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church.

John B. Epps Sr. - Fannie Epps Hopkins
WHITMIRE — On Aug. 9, 2009, John B. Epps Sr. answered God’s call to glory. John was born in Whitmire on Christmas Day in 1913 to the late Alonzo and Nealie Epps. He was a farmer and textile worker prior to becoming an entrepreneur as owner of Epps Diner and Restaurant.

Although he completed only a few years of elementary education, his wisdom and hard work enabled him to achieve much success as he contributed much to his family and the broader community.

John leaves to those who shared the joy of his life many cherished memories. He is survived by a loving wife of 70 years, Marie McMorris Epps; four sons, John Howard Epps Sr. of Whitmire, John Ballard Epps Jr. of Norwalk, Conn., Thomas Epps (Gerlie) of Atlanta, Ga. and Jackie Epps (Connie) of Columbia; two daughters, Yvonne Wright (Willie) of Stamford, Conn., Fannie Hopkins of Whitmire and daughter-in-law, Synethia Epps of Stratford, Conn.; a brother, James Harris Epps of Aiken; and two sisters, Gladys Clark of Whitmire and Eva M. Pringle of Detroit, Mich.  He also leaves a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.  John was preceded in death by his daughter, Gladys Marie; son, Joseph Alonzo; five brothers Willie Ted, Thomas, Lee White, Jesse William, Jason Alonzo,  and three sisters Lillie Lee, Mildred Gray, Veola Watkins.

Services will be held on Friday, Aug. 14, 2009 2 p.m., at Cedar Grove A.M.E. Zion Church located in Whitmire

Henrietta Efird
Newberry, Jan 9 - Mrs. Henrietta Efird, widow of the late Rev. D. F. Efird, died last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John A. Summer, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Efird was in the 83d year of her age and leaves three children, C. M. Efird, D. Frank Efird of Lexington and Mrs. John A. Summer of Newberry. She will be buried at St. Michaels church in the Lexington fork on Tuesday, the remains reaching Irmo on the Columbia, Newberry and Laurens railroad about 11 o'clock.

William Eichelberger Sr.
NEWBERRY - Services for William C. Eichelberger Sr., 82, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Welch Zion Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Eichelberger died Wednesday. Born in Newberry County, he was a son of John and Lenora Hill Eichelberger.

Surviving: wife, Etta Longshore Eichelberger; sons, James Eichelberger, Robert Lake, Donny Ray Eichelberger, William Lake, William Eichelberger Jr., and Wayne Eichelberger; daughters, Mildred Williams and Diane Abney; three brothers; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Jacob Epting
Died at the residence of Mr. S.S. Seig, on 20th of January (gravemarker has 30th of January), Mr. Jacob Epting, aged 18 years, 3 months and 11 days. He was a worthy member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church and met death with a firm reliance upon the merits of his Savior.

Annie E. Edwards
Died on 27th of February of paralysis, Mrs. Annie E. Edwards, the wife of John Edwards of Winston Co., Miss. and daughter of Matthias and Elizabeth Kinard. She was born on Dec. 13th 1822 in Newberry and migration with her parents to Mississippi in 1847. She was a truly good woman and a consistent member of the Methodist Church. She leaves a devoted husband, an aged mother, a sister and brother and many friends in Newberry District.

James Richard Enlow
PROSPERITY - Services for James Richard Enlow, 72, will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 this evening at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church Parking Lot Fund, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Mr. Enlow died August 5, 2001. Born in Newberry County, he was a son of the late James Thompson and Clara Sanders Enlow. He retired from Kendall Co., Oakland plant and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Patsy Livingston Enlow; son, James Aaron Enlow of Prosperity; daughters, Ann Upton of Greer and Myrtie Stone of Prosperity; sisters, Bernice Boatwright of Prosperity and Essie Suits of Newberry; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Eddie Lindler Epting
Mary Eddie Lindler Epting, 81, of 429 Pomaria St., Little Mountain, wife of Ralph E. Epting, died Saturday, July 14, at White Oak Manor, Newberry. Mrs. Epting was born in Chapin, a daughter of the late H. Perry and Pauline Eleazer Lindler. She was a graduate with an AB degree from Newberry College, class of 1937. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, WELCA, Lady's Sunday School Class, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Calvin Crozier Chapter, a charter member of the Little Mountain Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #276, and the Newberry County Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Epting taught at Brookland-Cayce Grammar School for 34 years. Mrs. Epting is survived by her husband of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Mary Epting, R. Edward and Kathy Epting, all of Little Mountain; a sister, Satira Lindler Lake of Prosperity; four grandchildren, Carl Epting of England, Bradly Epting of Columbia, Jacob Epting of Little Mountain and Susan Epting of Little Mountain; three great grandchildren, Dallas Epting, Chloe Epting and Isabella Hatch. Funeral services were conducted at 4 p.m. today at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by Rev. Fred Suhr. Interment was in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, P.O. Samuel M. Evans
Newberry, Dec. 11 – Mr. Samuel M. Evans died at his home here tonight at 8:30 after an illness of nine weeks. He was the father of Mr. H. H. Evans, member of the board of directors of the State dispensary and was 72 years old.
 

D. Scott Ellisor
Died in Newberry -
The many friends of Mr. D. Scott Ellisor will regret to hear of his death, which occurred in Newberry on Tuesday at his home. Mr. Ellisor resided in Columbia for some time, while in the employ of Mr. M. L. Kinard. He was a fine young man and had many warm personal friends here. He died of diabetes.

Bob Epting
NEWBERRY - Services for Robert W. "Bob" Epting, 65, of 5815 Mount Bethel Garmany Road, will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Newberry ARP Church, conducted by the Rev. Tim Erskine. Mr. Epting died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Clarence C. and Mary Price Epting. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and a retired employee of Allied Signal, Irmo Plant. He attended Clemson College. He was a member, ruling elder and past deacon of Newberry ARP Church, and he taught the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Stone Epting of the home; a daughter, Maribeth Epting of Columbia; a son, Warren C. Epting of Newberry; and grandchildren, R. Clayton Epting, C.C. Epting, Zachary S. Epting and Sarah-Beth Epting, all of Newberry.

Bethel Elrod
NEWBERRY - Private graveside services for Bethel A. Elrod, 78, of 372 Old Whitmire Highway, will be conducted Sunday in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mazza, 3597 Bachman Chapel Road. McSwain-Evans Funeral Home is in charge.

Ms. Elrod died Friday at her residence. Born in Easley, she was a daughter of the late W.R. and Rosa Coward Elrod. She was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Newberry Mills.

Surviving are sons, Kenneth L. Mazza and wife, Mary Susan, Newberry, Larry F. Mazza and wife, Carol, Prosperity; sisters, Pansy Perkins, Newberry and Joan Ward, Florida; brother, Bill Elrod, Newberry; grandchildren, Jennifer Mazza, Irmo, Michael Mazza, Jesse Mazza and Jeff Mazza, all of Prosperity.

Miss Ida Epting
Newberry, Sept 24 – Miss Ida Epting, a daughter of the late Boyd Epting of this city, died in the Laurens Hospital Saturday evening after a short illness. She was carried there from Mountville, where she was teaching, having been ill only a few days after school opened. The body was brought to Newberry Sunday afternoon over the Columbia, Newberry & Laurens Railroad and taken to the home of her mother on Glenn Street and was buried this after in Rosemont Cemetery. The deceased is survived by her mother, two brothers, Robert L. Epting and Bennie Epting, and two sisters Mrs. J. Marvin Bryan of bath and Miss Jessie Epting of Newberry.

Verdie Leigh Epting
Newberry - Verdie Leigh Harrelson Epting, 78, widow of John D. Epting, of 1848 Brookside Manor, died Friday, April 2, 1999 at her residence. 

Born in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late George Gilbert and Annie Laura Johnson Harrelson. A homemaker, she was a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church.  Survivors: sons, John W. Epting and Edwin L. Epting, both of Newberry a daughter, Joan E. Beck of Newberry eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. 

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday at Silverstreet Lutheran Church. Memorials: Silverstreet Lutheran Church, 120 Long St., Silverstreet, S.C. 29145.

Ruby L. Epting 
NEWBERRY - Ruby Lott Epting, 87, widow of Leland C. Epting Sr. died Wednesday, April 30, 2008.  She was born in Fairfield County and the daughter of the late Warren and Mary Lott of Saluda. She was a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a son Leland Epting Jr. (Patsy) of Newberry; daughters, Linda Koon of Little Mountain, Susan Longshore (Tommy) of Newberry, Mary Hallman (Walter) of Leesville and Janet Morris (Dwain) of Newberry; grandchildren, Beverly Summer, Faye Woodward, Ashley Lowe, Charlotte Ehney, David Koon, Leah Pruitt, Clint Hallman, Leesha and Dana Morris; and 10 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Janice Epting; a son-in-law, Gerald Koon and a greatgrandchild, Adrienne Woodward.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday in Silverstreet Lutheran Church by the Rev. Steve Jackson. Interment will be in the church cemetery.  The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Epting, 2322 Belfast Road, and will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Whitaker Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to Silverstreet Lutheran Church, Building Fund, 120 Long St., Silverstreet, SC 29145.  Messages to the family may be sent via e-mail at notes@whitakerfuneralhome.com. Marion E. Eichelberger
SILVERSTREET - Funeral services for Mr. Marion Eugene Eichelberger, age 79, of 713 Green Acres Road, will be conducted on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at 3 p.m. at Belmont Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

Mr. Eichelberger died Thursday, March 6, 2008 at his home. Born in Silver-street, he was the son of the late John Eichelberger and the late Lenora Hill Eichelberger. 

Surviving are his wife, Alberta Young Eichelberger, of the home; two brothers, Cornell Eichelberger of Charlotte, N.C. and Clarence Eichelberger of Onley, Md.; three sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Rebecca Genell Boozer Evans, 79, died June 12, 2002.
Survivors: Husband, Bernard Gordon Evans, of Columbia a son, Thomas Blair Boozer III, of Hilton Head daughters, Barbara Ann Shipman of Beaufort, Carole Sydney Miller of Newberry and Melisa Boozer Land of Columbia six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Randall Epting Sr.
NEWBERRY - Services for Randall Brooks Epting Sr., 60, of 61 Paularan Road, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church, with burial to follow in Colony Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-7:30 tonight at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Mr. Epting died Friday. Born in Newberry, he was a son of the late Brooks D. and Marie B. Epting. He was a Quality Assurance Manager of Shakespear Corporation and a member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Paula C. Epting; son, Randall Brooks Epting Jr. and wife, Angie of Dade City, Fla.; daughter, Lorie E. Hawkins and husband, Brian of Newberry; brothers, Ralph L. Epting, J. Harold Epting, both of Prosperity; sister-in-law, Trudie Epting of Prosperity; four grandchildren.

A wonderful woman who gave so much help to her mother after her father died on her 16th birthday.
Lalhage Fulmer Eargle, 89, formerly of 1264 Kinard St., Newberry, widow of C. Herman Eargle, died Friday, June 19, 2009 at White Oak Manor.
She was born on January 30, 1920 in Prosperity, a daughter of the late J. Burley and Viola Mills Fulmer. She was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church. She was a former employee of the Kendall Company, Mollohon Plant and retired from the J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home where she worked in the kitchen and dietary department. Mrs. Eargle was very active with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at the Waldrop Center.
She is survived by her son, Denny H. Eargle of Newberry; a sister, Eunice F. Cole of Summerville; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Bruce F. Eargle; sisters, Reba F. Amick, Ruth Fulmer, Clara F. Purdy, and Annielee F. Shealy; and brothers, Virgil B. Fulmer, Furman E. Fulmer, and H. Bernard Fulmer.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. John Wertz. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Terry Morris, James Fulmer, Larry Cromer, Robert Alexander Purdy, Jr., John William Fulmer, James Taylor, Phillip Sligh, Jerry Summers, Vernon Hawkins, and Clyde Berry.

Denny Eargle
Dr. Denny Herman Eargle, 58, a resident of 1264 Kinard St., Newberry, SC and 489 Blumont Rd., Mt. Airy, NC died Monday, October 19, 2009 at his Newberry residence.  He was born on December 3, 1951 in Newberry, a son of the late C. Herman and Lalhage Fulmer Eargle. A Newberry native, Mr. Eargle relocated following completion of his pharmacy internship to Mt. Airy, where he resided until his return to Newberry in 2003 to provide care for his mother after her health had declined.  A graduate of Newberry High School, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Carolina, College of Pharmacy, after which he completed his internship in S.C. He further earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of North Carolina. He was a member of the American Pharmacist Association; The Rhi Society, Pharmaceutical Honor Society; the North Carolina Real Estate Commission, Chapter 93A (Real Estate Brokers) and received a Code of Professional Ethics certificate from the North Carolina Pharmaceutical Association. He served as a licensed pharmacist for Kerr Pharmacy in Mt. Airy and BI-LO Pharmacy in Laurens, SC and was also a licensed pharmacist in Virginia. He was previously employed by Eckerd and Rite Aid in Mt. Airy.  He was a member of both the Newberry and Mt. Airy Lions Clubs and was honored with the 2002 Lion of the Year award by the Mt. Airy Lions Club; Service Award from the Mt. Airy Lions Club in honor of his faithful, devoted valuable service in 1998; the Presidents Appreciation Award in Mt. Airy in 1993; and the Extra Mile Award from Surry Medical Ministries Clinic.  He was a faithful member of the St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Mt. Airy and after his return to Newberry, has been attending his home church, Summer Memorial Lutheran Church.  He is survived by aunts, Linnie Belle Eargle of Newberry and Eunice F. Cole of Summerville and a number of cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Bruce F. Eargle.  Funeral services to celebrate the life of Denny H. Eargle was conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. John Wertz and Rev. Dale Cline. Interment was in Newberry Memorial Gardens.   Memorials may be made to Summer Memorial Lutheran Church, 1609 Milligan St., Newberry, SC 29108.  Pallbearers were Bill Lamm, Terry Morris, Alan Shealy, Phillip Sligh, Jerry Summers, Vernon Hawkins, John Paul Whitaker, Randy Berry, and Al Rogers.  Honorary pallbearers were his caregivers, Doris Hernandez, Veda Suber, Tammy Mayer, Alex Boyd, Rachel Etheredge, Sam Glenn, and Veronica Singleton, all of whom have been Denny’s special “angels” with Angel Care of Newberry, Melanie Davis, Heather Thomilson, James Fulmer and John Fulmer.  Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry, is assisting the family.  (contributed by Donna Brummett)
