NEWBERRY — John Aaron Leopard, 80, of Newberry, died
Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at his residence. Mr. Leopard was born Dec. 10,
1930, in Newberry, a son of the late D.P. “Pete” Leopard and Cleo Dehart
Leopard. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was retired
from BellSouth. He was a dedicated member of West End Baptist Church where he
had served as Sunday school director and as a deacon. He was also a member of
the Men’s Mission Organization and the choir. Survivors include his wife
of 57 years, Margaret Hendrix Leopard; daughters, Lynn Hollingsworth of Columbia
and Starr (Jay) Hockett of Prosperity; grandchildren, Victoria “Tori”
Hollingsworth, Jessica “Jessi” Hockett and David Hockett; great-grandchild,
Logan Meyer; sisters, Fay (Donald) Bouknight of Irmo and Ann (Guy) Slice of
Chapin; and brother, Billy E. Leopard of Aiken. He was predeceased by
daughters, Buffy Marie Leopard and Johnette Leopard; sisters, Catherine
Humphries and Evelyn Lever; and brother, D.P. Leopard Jr. Graveside
funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, in
Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. David Lyles.
Visitation will be from 6-8
p.m., Friday, Oct. 29, 2011, at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Newberry.
