Strother D. Paysinger, Jr.
39, of 1611 Lindsay Street, died Thursday.

Mr. Paysinger was born in Newberry, a son of S. D. (Bozo) Paysinger, Sr. of Newberry and Mrs. Martha Johnstone McCandlish of Alexandria, Virginia.  Mr. Paysinger was manager of City Filling Station.  He attended the Newberry City Schools and Newberry College.  He was a member of First Baptist church, the Friendly Fire Department, the Newberry City Fire Department, the Newberry Pistol Club, the SC Fireman's Association, the Newberry City Fireman's Association and a life member of the National Rifle Association.  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.  Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, alan J. Paysinger of Newberry; his stepmother, Mrs. Eleanor Wier Paysinger of Newberry; his stepfather, H. E. McCandlish of Alexandria, Virginia; and a stepsister, Mrs. Barbara Clarkson Smith of Kinston, N.C.  Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. Marion Crooks and the Rev. Ralph Bates.  The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Whitaker Funeral Home.  The family suggest those desiring may make memorials to the Friendly Fire Department.  Active pallbearers will be Tommy Hedgepath, Watkins Martin, Robert Pollard, Jack Kesler, Tommy Longshore, Steve Suber, David Hendrix, and Otis Whitaker.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Friendly Fire Department and Newberry City Fire Department.  Whitaker Funeral Home, Inc. in charge...contributed by Kenneth Harmon
