Newberry County, South Carolina. Located: 10 Miles east of Newberry, S. C. on state road #619, turn right on road #299 for one mile, then up a hill in woods about 200 yards on left.

RIKARD FAMILY GRAVEYARD - Newberry County, South Carolina. Located: 10 Miles east of Ne'Wberry, S. C. on state road #619, turn right on road #299 for one mile, then up a hill in woods about 200 yards on left. Sacred to the memory of MARGARET RIKARD wife of Michael Rikerd and daughter of George and Elizabeth Eickelberger who departed this life February, 1842 aged 79 years and 11 mo. She Was --ing her whole life an exemplary member of the Lutheran Church of Christ.  She Was a virtuous and dutyful Wife, the kind and affectionate mother of 8 children 2 only of Whom survive her. Her husband erects this stone as a momentoof the love he bore her while living and the respect which he bears her memory when dead. Sacred to the memory of HENRY RIKARD who died April 21st, 1847 aged 47 years 7 mo. and 19 da. Of the Evangelical Lutheran Church He was an exemplary member; His benevolence always was such That the poor will ever remember, Respected in life by the free and the slave. Lamented by all in his.. D. F. RIKARD (David Franklin Rikard) son of Henry and Elizabeth Rikard was born March 26, 1837 Married T.C. Barre Jan. 10, 1861 and died Nov, 5, 1871 leaving a widow and 4 children, "I am the Resurrection and the life... FRANK D. RIKARD South Carolina Sgt. Co. F, 20 Reg. S.C, Int. Confederate States Army B. March 26, 1837 d. Nove 5, 1871 Also a metallic Confederate Cross. (Its believed that D. F. Rikard and Frank D. Rikard are the same person.) In memory of JOHN S, RIKARD who died Aug. 5th, 1835 aged 1 y. 8 mo. & 12 days. Sacred to the memory, of MICHAEL RIKARD Who departed this life the 2nd day of May 1846 aged 82 years and 8 months. He was an exemplary member of the Lutheran Church. Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth. Yea, saith the Spirit that they May Rest from their labors; And their works do follow them, Here lies the body of our brother friend, While his spirit upward tends; What was loss to us was gain Till we in Heaven shall meet again. Sacred to the memory of ELIZABETH RIKARD wife of Henry Rikard Born Sept. 6, 1805 Died at age 78 years, 1 mo and 4 da. Asleep in Jesus, Blessed sleep, From which none ever wakes to~  endurance to the grave. TEXANNA C. RIKARD wife of D. F. Rikard Born Jan, 16, 1842 Died Oct. 22, 1879 Mother thou has from us nown, To the regions far above, We to thee erect this stone Consecrated by our love. MARTHA RIKARD in memory of who died Sept. 16th 1827, aged 2 yr. 7 mo. & 5 days. In memory of JACOB RIKARD Who died Sept. 20th, 1827 Age 11 mo & 5 days. HATTIE E. RIKARD Daughter of D. F. and T. C. Rikard, was born Sept. 17, 1867 and died Dec. 28, 1870 (or Sep). Aged 3 years and 11 days. LIZZIE R. RIKARD born Jan. 18, 1866 Died Dec. 4, 1879. The rose may fadethe lily die, but flo Wers immortal bloom Sacred to the memory of on high. MARY CATHERINE RIKARD who was born In Memory of and died August _ 1857, aged 14 years (Mary Catherine Rikard -/-/1843-8/-/1857) ADAM C. RIKARD who was born July 17th 1831 7 months ~d _days. Dearest sister, and died June 24th 1855 aged 23 years 11 mos thou hast left us, Here thy loss we deeply .... sad the thoughts our brothers dear, feel, But tis God who has bereft us, In silence rests his peaceful head; His soul He can all our sorrows heal. (stone broken). There are at least a dozen other graves in this graveyard marked only by field stones and have no inscriptions.
