Oconee Native licks life Obstacle at 77 he's
Happy SALEM --- July 23 (1952 - -Life has not always been a bed of roses for David {Crockett } Wilson who celebrated his 77th birthday last Sunday . He has enjoyed some Mighty good health and a will to suceed. Although he only attended School 3 days, this fine Oconee Co Citizen today owns 800 acres of land 13 houses and lots in Seneca and Walhalla, and has built homes for each of his fourteen children. He was first married to Ida Heaton a pretty young girl 13 years old she is the mother of ten of his children. They lived together for 29 years and nine months , untill her death, After his first wife's death he took for his bride a 20 year old girl Pearl Young she is the mother of four of his children. In spite of his advanced years , he still carries on his duties as a farmer and this season he and his sixteen year old son clyde have 20 acres of corn among other crops. Asked why he has had such a long and useful life, he smiled and said I always honored my mother and father like the good book says. God has been good to me. Giving me two wonderful women as my helpers . And I have a wonderful family of fine children . What more could anyone want. Children by his first wife was: 1-Rev, Dave Wilson of Salem , Pastor of

of Seneca. 4-Mrs Ola Fortson of Salem, 5- Mrs Mary Medlin of Salem, 6- Mrs
Ida Crowe of Salem, 7- Mrs Mildred Alexander of West Union, 8- Jim Wilson
of Salem, 9 Mrs Essie Mae Burrell of Salem. Last Sunday Kin came from every where to Honor the grand old man on his 77th birthday Large tables were filled with good things to eat. Under the shade trees of his home, which is located in Salem. More than 100 were present for the event. He has 48 grandchildren and 40 Great grandchildren. Four of his daughters were absent due to the critical Illiness of his sixteen year old grandson Homer Patterson. Also Present was two of his three brothers Richard and Wade Wilson, as well as his first wife's sister Mrs Martha Ammons of Tuskeseigee NC. Mr Wilson was the recipient of many nice and useful gifts. Mr David W Wilson is the son of the late Malachi [ Bob ] Hamilton and Harriet Lusk Wilson he was born July 23, 1875 on Chatooga Ridge.--- HIS FIRST WIFE WAS Ida Mae Heaton, born June 26 ,1886 in Oconee County, death June 3 ,1928 age 42 in Oconee Co SC, daughter of Joe N Fausley and Catherine Heaton --Both were born in Oconee Co S,C NOTE: 1900 Census Oconee Co Keowee Township
El Paso Herald Home Edition El Paso, Texas February 26, 1917 Bodies of Carolina and Alabama Soldiers Shipped contributed by Dale Donlon Two military funerals were held Monday afternoon. The body of Corp. Zestal Wilson, company A, Third North Carolina infantry, was shipped to Lexington, N. C., at 3 o'clock, and the body of William F. Nichols, an unassigned recruit, was sent to Piedmont, Ala., at 2 o'clock. Services for Pvt. S. Cantrell, of company M, Fifth Georgia infantry, were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock and the body shipped to Walhalla, S. C. He died at the base hospital. C. is spending the holidays with her mother Mrs. C. Strong. Dr. and Mrs. C. P. Corn are visiting the latter's parents, M. and Mrs. W. N. Strother. Mrs. J. A. Stock entertained at cards on Wednesday. After several rubbers Mrs. Ann Daiby received the prize. Refreshments were served. Miss Helen Pant of Anderson is visiting here. Miss Marie Isbell of Anderson is spending a while with her parents. Mrs. D. G. McAlister and Miss Katherine of Columbia are visiting at the home of Mrs. E. A. Bell. Miss Marguerite Brennecke has returned from Greenwood. Mrs. George Seaborne will entertain the Forty two club on Friday.

Mrs. Elliott Rhodes entertained on Wednesday in honor of Miss Irene White, a Christmas bride-to-be. Dr. and Mrs. C. P. Corn of Johnston are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Strother. Mrs. Jack Darby is in Forsythe, Ga. for a few days. Miss Helen Beard of Spartanburg is here for the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. M. R. McDonald are in Columbia this week. Miss Marie Isbell of Anderson will spend some time here at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Isbell. Mrs. Jesse Rankin has accepted the position as fourth grade teacher in the Walhalla high school.. Miss Pauline Hughs of Washington, D. C., is at home for the holidays. Mrs. D. G. McAlister and Miss Katherine McAlister of Columbia will spend next week at the home of Mrs. E. A. Bell
