(Note: this is the 2nd Zion Methodist church; the first
was destroyed by fire. The first cemetery was located farther down Zion
Church Rd. in what became a swampy area before being developed. The
cemetery had nothing but field markers and most were discarded when a home
was built on the property. John Mauldin h/o Mary Kate Sheriff was said to
be buried in the old cemetery. Mary Kate Sheriff Mauldin is said to be
buried at the newer Zion Methodist, but her stone has not been found. Also
buried at the newer Zion church : William Thomas Black s/o Riley and Vina
Mauldin Black and John Fletcher Black s/o Isaac Bennett and Mary Jane
Mauldin Black.)
