Leslie Dawkins Lyles, Jr., 35; died at his home  in Upper Richland county at 1:20 a. m. yesterday after an illness of several years. Funeral services will

be held at College Place Methodist church at 3 p. m. Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Paul Whittaker, pastor, assisted by Dr. Oscar W. Eargle of Wofford college, Spartanburg. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Methodist churchyard. Mr. Lyles was the son of L. D. Lyles. Sr.. and Mrs. Elizabeth Robert Lyles of Fairfield county where he attended the Winnsboro schools. He moved to Columbia 15 years ago and attended business college here. For the last 13 years, Mr. Lyles had been associated with Gayden Brothers. He was a member of the College Place Methodist church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marguerite Smith Lyles; one son, Julian (Billy) Lyles; one sister, Mrs. Walter D. Fanning, of Norway; two brothers. Marlon E. Lyles of Winnsboro, and James H. Lyles, of Columbia. Active pallbearers will be W. W. Lewis. Lester Robertson. William M. Estes. F. Morris Clark, John Harper Harmon, Jr., and William McGill. These are requested to meet at the Talbert funeral home at 2:30.  Honorary pallbearersw ill be L. R. Weeks, J. Harper Harmon, Sr., H. W. Eddy, J. D. Abney, J. M. Abney, J. L. Ellis, A. J. Horton, E. R. Rabb, Ray Brooks, F. B. Ruff, W. H. Fanning and Walter S. Lane.  These are requested to meet at the church at 3 o'clock. [unknown news source or date, contributed by Linda Lyles]
