On Sunday morning, the 15th inst., at the residence of Mr. Wat Anderson, son of the groom, by the Rev. H. W. Ledbetter, Mr. Richard Anderson, aged seventy-six, to Miss Sally McKelden, aged twenty, all of Abbeville. (The Daily South Carolinian - April 20 1855) On Saturday the 12th inst. by the Rev. Mr. English, Mr. Alexander McDowell, a resident of Columbia, to Miss Rebecca Kimble, lately from Philadelphia. (Columbia Telescope - July 23 1833) Lawrence - Bridges Pinewood, June 16 - Invitations have been issued by Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Augustine Lawrence to the marriage of their daughter, Miss
Lillian Ainslee Lawrence, to Albert Venton Bridges on Wednesday evening,
June 28, in the Methodist church at Pinewood. (The State - June 17,
1911) Collier-McMillan Mrs. Nettie Collier of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Oliver W. McMillian of Conway were married Monday at Columbia at the parsonage of that Green Street Methodist church by the pastor, the Rev. R. L. Keaton. The marriage was witnessed by only a few intimate friends and the
sister of the bridegroom. Miss Mary McMillan of this city. The bridegroom
is connected with the Mountain City Milling company and the young couple
will make their home in Conway. (The State, September 21, 1921) Miss Bessie Waiton Fowlkes and Ernest Carroll Lorick were married Saturday morning at 7:30 o'clock at the home of the Rev. H. A. McCullough. Only a few relatives and intimate friends were present and immediately after the ceremony the young couple left in their car for the mountains of North Carolina. The bride wore a blue tricotine suit, embroidered in navy with trimmings of gray fur. Her hat was of midnight blue with gray shoes and gloves. Mr. and Mrs. Lorick will be with Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Lorick on Oak street for a while before going to housekeeping. (The State September 13, 1921) Whittle-Grist Miss Lois Whittle and Robert Yorkston Grist were married at 2:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the manse of the Arsenal Hill Presbyterian church, the Rev. w. H. Boggs, the pastor, officiating. The bridal couple left immediately after the ceremony for a trip to Washington and upon their return to Columbia will be at home at 1301 Calhoun street, where they have taken an apartment. The ceremony was witnessed by a few friends and relatives of the bride and bridegroom, as follows: Mr. and Mrs. f. C. Nelson, Miss Norvie Kibler, Mr. and Mrs. w. H. Harling, Monroe Rogers and Withers Grist. The bride wore a stylish gray traveling suit with accessories to match and never looked lovelier than she did on her wedding day. She is originally from Johnston but for a number of years has made her home in Columbia, where she has a large circle of friends. Mr.
Grist, a native of York, has made Columbia his home for about five years
and he, too, has made a large number of friends. He holds a responsible
position with the Southern freight and Inspection bureau. (The State

Harbin were married Thursday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Faulk at 1010 Elmwood avenue, the ceremony was performed by Dr. R. S. Truesdale, pastor of the Main Street Methodist Church. The bride wore a navy blue coat suit with accessories to match. She had no attendants. The bride is a trained nurse of Columbia and the bridegroom has been connected with the Southern Railway for a number of years. Immediately after the ceremony the young
couple left for Charleston, where they took a steamer for New York and
other Northern cities. The State: Sept 8, 1921, transcribed by Carrie Fichtl Brown-Wilks Miss Florence Harriette Brown and J . Wesley Wilks were married Tuesday night at 8:30 o'clock by the Rev. R. s. Truesdayle at the parsonage of the Main Street Methodist Church, the ceremony being performed in the presence of only a few intimate friends.Mrs Wilks is originally from Lunenburg, Vt. lived in Florence of several years and has been in Columbia for more than two years. She is employed in the office of the state superintendent of education. Mr. Wilks is originally from Chester, but has made his home in Columbia for the past ten years. He is a graduate of the University of South Carolina and is assistant auditor for the comptroller general. He is a veteran of the world war, having seen 22 months of service. Mr. and Mrs. Wilks will make their home in Columbia. Approaching Wedding: Miss Hughey, besides a charming personality, possesses high mental attainments. She was graduated in 1919 from Marion college, Virginia, and for the greater part of the past two years has been in Columbia University making a special study of sociology. Mr. Wilde is an energetic young business man. He was educated in Detroit, was in service overseas for two years and is now engaged in the automobile business. The friends of the young people, who are both lifelong residents of Columbia, will be glad to learn of their intention to continue to reside here. H.B. Jones, Pastor, performing the ceremony. The young couple will make their home in Ridge Spring. Announce Wedding:

Fichtl Mr. and Mrs. Williams Jefferson McGee announce the engagement of their daughter, Susan Kathryn to Ward Galley, the wedding to take place October 20. For Bride-elect. Miss Ehrline Coker, a bride of the month, was the honor guest at a lingerie shower given yeaterday afternoon by Miss Margery Luther. Five tables of progressive anagrams were played, the bride-elect, a table being marked by a miniature bride. The color scheme was green and white, this being carried out in the decorations of white roses and potted plants and also in the hand painted place cards. The prize, a glass toilet basket, was won by Miss Helen Zimmerman. The gifts to the bride were rolled in an automobile tire,
the inspiration for this unique method of presentation being given by the
business of the bridegroom-elect, Augustus Bernard Rabb, who is an
