Began life as a clerk in drug store, Anderson, S.C. 1873; went to Columbia, 1875, and clerked in drug store until 1879; moved to Spartanburg, and opened Ligon's Drug Store; organized and has been pres. and dir. of Arcadia Mills since 1902; pres. and dir. of the American National bank, the Southern Trust Co., the American Perpetual Building and Loan Assn., Mills Mill, Greenville, S.C.
