Ligon, Henry Arthur, Spartanburg, S.C. - Banker; b. in Lexington County, S.C., Oct. 15, 1856; s. of William J. and Louisa C. (Selbela) Ligon; cd. in father's school, Pendleton, S.C., and Anderson, S.C.; m. Anderson, S.C., Nov. 8, 1882, Lucie E. Reed; four children. Began life as a clerk in drug store, Anderson, S.C. 1873; went to Columbia, 1875, and clerked in drug store until 1879; moved to Spartanburg, and opened Ligon's Drug Store; organized and has been pres. and dir. of Arcadia Mills since 1902; pres. and dir. of the American National bank, the Southern Trust Co., the American Perpetual Building and Loan Assn., Mills Mill, Greenville, S.C. Trus. Converse Coli., Spartanburg City Graded Schools; vestryman Episcopal Church. Club: Spartanburg Country (member Board of Mgrs.). Democrat. Episcopalian.
