Atkinson-Dinkins Cemetery – Travel from Sumter on Hwy. #76/378, continue until reaching traffic light where Hwy. #26 crosses Hwy. #76/378. Turn right on Hwy. #261 and go for 7 mi. to Rafting Creek, next turn right onto Dinkins Mill Rd. Burial ground and cemetery are on the left behind and beyond Dinkins Mill Gin. Burial Grounds – Unmarked Grave: A mass grave between Dinkins Cemetery and the road contains the remains of 19 Union soldiers killed in a battle at Dinkins community circa 1867.

CLARK, John M. 'In memory of; A native of Massachusetts, an the oldest son of Joseph & Elizabeth Clark, He came into South Carolina Oct 1816 and died suddenly at Rafting Creek May 5, 1829 Age 37 years'.

DINKINS, Robert Brownfield Jr. Jun 8, 1942-Dec 3, 1995

DINKINS, Robert Brownfield Aug 21, 1906-Dec 13, 1980 in Sumter, SC s/o Robert Brownfield & Mattie Doby Dinkins; Married Loretto Porcher Phifer Oct 10, 1939 from their union; Robert Brownfield Jr., Charles William, David Hastings, Steven Lillington. He was a gentle compassionate man of character and integrity who served both God and country, he devoted himself to family and friends, loved by all who knew him.

DINKINS, Loretto Phifer Mar 19, 1914-Jul 8, 1996 in Sumter, SC d/o Charles McKnight Phifer & Louisa Williams Phifer, from this union, four sons and fourteen grandchildren, her children arise up and call her blessed, her husband also and he praiseth her, many daughters have done virtuously but thou excellenced them all. She was a member of the Phifer Orchestra, she faithfully served Christ for over 75 years at the First Baptist Church in Sumter; She was an inspiration spiritually and musically to all.
