Black River
Swamp Cemetery Sumter County, SC Contributed by Anita
Martin-Schwartz
Located near the Black River. From
Sumter, take Hwy 378 east toward I-95. Approaching the swamp and after
crossing the third bridge the cemetery is on a hill in the woods on right.
It is after third bridge and before first median-crossing. Last surveyed
Feb 2009 by Anita Schwartz.
This cemetery has been planted w/ground palms, daffodils
& white bells among others. I believe many of the stones have fallen
& are covered w/understory debris; It is very overgrown and in need of
attention. I will volunteer my time to help any descendants interested in
an effort to restore and preserve this cemetery. -Anita
