Richard Hughes Johnson

Union, South Carolina; Graduated from Clemon College in 1915, majoring in Agronomy; World War I, US Army, First Lieutenant, 56th Infantry; Died November 10, 1918 while taking part in engagements in Preny Ridge and Metz. Shot down by machine gun fire while leading his men in action at Metz. Died of wounds, Lorraine France. Buried: Plot D Row 3 Grave 18, St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France.

Lieut. R.H. Johnson of the Fifty-six Infantry, who was killed in France November 10.  A fellow officer said of him, "He was ever willing, true, brave and courageous."  His widow lives at Mt. Tabor.

William Joseph Douglass

Jonesville, South Carolina; Graduated from Clemon College in 1926, majoring in Agronomy; World War II, US Army, Lieutenant Colonel, 319th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division; Died October 7, 1944 -Killed in Action; Buried, St. Avold Moselle, France.
